Installing HID kits on two civics - need tips/info

I just recently got two Helligkeit 6k HID kits to install on my brothers 2009 civic dx 2dr, and on my girlfriends 2005 civic dx 2dr (hehe, we're a civic family here). The two kits are the same, since apparently both are suited for these two cars.

I did not find any general writeups or DIYs, but I just wanted to pick your brains here for tips; especially anything with how to remove the bumpers, how to get to the actual lights, where to mount the ballasts, and especially what do I need to look out for, if anything, to ensure I do not mess up anything with the daytime run lights (DRLs).

I appreciate any help/tips you guys have to offer. I can't wait to get my hands dirty on these two babies; they look so much easier to work on than my ride.

I haven't down anything with the newer generation of civic, but with my 96' I installed HID's. If you have the correct replacement, it should be easy and straight forward for the install. If I'm not mistaken, the only annyoing thing you have to deal with is removing the battery to get into one side, maybe an air box.

As a Suggestion, your ballist kit should be able to A) Bolt onto the frame, B) be Zap Strapped so it's secure... Make sure it's not floating around in your engine bay. Also think winter time snow, spring dust, summer rain, and fall all of the above, when installing. IE: get the ballists out of the elements, and secure from shock/vibration as best you can.

And don't touch the bulbs with your fingers. The oils from your hand will wreck them, eventually.

Yea, that is why I wanted to actually remove the front bumper on both cars, so I can find some nice, out of the way place on the frame for both cars to install. I don't know if I want to drill into the frame, even minute moisture will eventually corrode. What I wanted to do was use 3m double-sided tape to find some out of the way place to mount them, as I've done this with a couple of cars in the past.

Any info on what it takes for this?

When I was installing the kits on the civics, the guy kept saying "it will be fine if the balast just hang, so since he was happy with install I left it hanging off the bulb.
Now to get to the bulb I just pulled the inner fender/guard off and reached inside. Done this couple of times so didn't even need to look, went by the feel :P
Do it properly, remove the bumper and attach the balast somewhere safe. Most of the kits come with a little bracket so could always use that or just heavy duty 3M tape will do the trick as long as year surface is clean.
GL with install.
