Clearcoat flaking?

Havent washed the car in a while
Brought it into the shop last nite to give a quick rinse with the pressure washer
this one area. passenger side up at the far corner by the glass hatch. Flaked clear coat. a good like... 1/2 square foot.

Now other then a real ****ty job at paint. What could cause this?

Salt and dirt being on it for too long? Dried out it?

Mine is too. From what I hear , its and easy fix. Wet sand and re-clear. Shouldn't be too expensive.

My EK had some very little coat flaking around the trunk boundaries. It wasn't too bad, or noticeable until your looking VERY closely at it.

As czeto said, its an easy fix, depending on how bad its flaking.

You're not supposed to just clear over top of scuffed basecoat. It wont last, you're supposed to spray your basecoat, then clear.

reasons they flake or peel is because of improper paintjobs, if the area was masked off and not removed etc...

The car was painted long before i picked up it over a year ago.
