cleaning calipers

A bit of guidance concerning brake calipers.

i PUT 16s on my car AND my calipers, etc. look like ***.

Tried searching this forum but nothing seemed to come up.

How do I clean the calipers? Is there a way to do it?

Or is it just easier & better to get new ones?

i'M not enthused about the idea of painting them, I've heard it takes a few days. Even if I did, I'd need to clean them first.

Cheers,

buy the dupli-colour kit from crappy tire or part source, i did it to mine, in 10 degree weather with a heat lamp and they dried within like 15 mins, its a very good kit and they turned out great
it comes with a cleaner, and the paint

if you have acess to a parts washer or a varsol tank then you could use either one of those

if not i would just buy the kit that comes with a cleaner like 1Phatcx said

screw the kit... some elbow grease and high temp caliper paint is all you need... just make sure it's real clean before you paint

Use industrial strength degreaser and brake dust cleaner. Probably won't come back to its original shine, but should be better for future paint job.

depends if you wana disconnect the brake lines or not. you can pull them "away" fromthe car by undoing a few bolts. but to completely remove them to work on a bench, you have to disconnect lines.

I just taped newspaper all over and around my rotors and suspension and painted them while on the car.
