Advice on my coming car

hey guys,

i'm gna be in the market for another car very soon..i'm looking @ the 99-00 Ek's

i'm considering a 2 dr SE or a 4 door EX..i have a brother and sister, and i usuall have pepole sitting in the back, that why i'm leaning towards the 4 dr, but i dun have to move so i dont reely care.

the reason im looking @ the SE is because its identicle to the Si exept for the Hp, either way i'm doing a swap into either car i get.

what are your opinions on those cars?

i plan to keep this car for a while with, medium to heavy modding (especially the interior)

i realize that in the end its up to me because i have to drive it, but it would be nice to have feedback on what other ppl think.

thx

Your logic for not getting an Si is that you will be swapping out the engine so there is no point in getting the faster stock engine. With this in mind you should use the same logic with your choice of a 4dr. The EX has more horsepower than the LX 4dr(d16y7 vs. d16y8), so if you are getting a swap and doing interior work then it is not necssary to get the EX, IMO.
Personally, I like coupes better and its not that bad getting into the back, but the insurance is higher on 2drs so it depends on your budget as well.

no no..i'm swapping into either car i get, be it an SE or an EX, prob gna be a B20Z

the reason i wanted to swap the engine is cause the insurance company will see it as a lower car, but it will have the performance of a better car...in turn giving me lesser insurance.

i'm only 18, and ive owned a ek hatch (97) and i currently own a 94 integra (Which is raping me up the bum on insurance)

so i'm looking for another car in the near future, i was also considering a protege5, but the insuranc eon it is kinda high

so i'm looking @ a civic..any more advice guys?

Well to help you on the 2dr or 4dr situation, Allstate which I am dealing with treats 2 & 4 doors the same so its the same price. Most insurance companies should be doing that but im not sure. I got a coupe btw, when I get the new civic in the future I will be gettin the sedan because of the look. Im not feeling the 06 coupe design. If you love your car you know what I mean when people get into your car and make a big fuss, they leave dirt and foot prints on the side when entering a 2dr. I usually take my brothers or girlfriend and her brother so I am looking towards the 4dr now, its more convienent and less stress. Oh one more thing I hate re-adjusting my seat since civics dont have seat adjusting memory. Just my two cents

that's why bitches ride in the passenger seat, no one sits in the back, besides it's already way too low ontop of that trying to put 3 extra people in the car, *** that

i heer ya..but taking two cars sumwhere is too expensive now a days wit da gas prices.

i like the looks of the SE, but i think i'm have to go wit a DX/EX...jus because its more practical if i'm going to carry more ppl, plus its still souppable (sp?) and the interior is my are of focus..not so much the exterior, other than the lip kits, and type r headlights (DIY) and the red/white tails thats all i'm going to do, maybe a touring style wing..but thats a big MAybe.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding or not being clear or something but what I am saying in my first post is that the 4dr ex has the most hp out of the civic 4drs for 1996-2000. So if you are doing a swap on a 4dr, dont get the ex because it has a vtec engine and you will be paying more for it (upfront and in insurance) only to swap it out and get a different engine. So get a lower trim level of 4dr (DX or LX w/e it is) so that you will get a non-vtec engine as OEM and hence save upfront and in insurance costs, then do the swap.

with gas prices where they are right now, i have no other choice really, thats why i'm opting a B20Z swap so i can run 87 gas.

If Civic is your choice of weapon, then get a basic 4 door model that has AC installed (if you like it). The less you pay upfront, the more money you have to mod it.

Don't get the DX, unless ya don't want any power windows, locks, cruise, etc...I won't live without the power groups LOL.
Get the LX cuz it will cost you less in the long run instead of payin alot for power groups you can get stock. Insurance shouldnt make a difference. Unless you get the EX or SI then you'll be broke.
When you get older I think its better to get the 4dr, still looks good and its more easier to move around. Plus if you have a kid you won't have to sell it cuz wifey says so. haha
I think that year is the best year for the sedan, IMO the tail lights look nice and sexy stock. (98-00)

OK. Forst of all, NO CANADIAN EK CIVIC SEDAN HAS A STOCK VTEC ENGINE...

Being the owner of a 2000 EX Sedan purchased from Honda, I can confirm this.

Here's the cool thing about my EX that I like:

No antenna
Power/Heated Mirrors
Height adjustable driver's seat

EX's have the chrome trim around the door windows. They also have power everything. You may be able to find one with a sunroof, but it's doubtful.

I'm 99.9% sure all sedans came with the light grey (referred to as charcoal grey by Honda) interior or beige (only in the green ones).

Also, cruise and AC may only be on the EX, but I think the SE sedans might have it too.

yup, only VTEC in sedan is Acura 1.6EL D16Y8 :P which is another option depending on interior features you want. El's can come with leather and power sunroof, or cloth and no sunroof. EL is slightly harder to modify exterior though, but not too hard at all

its 99-00 when it got the face lift. 96-98 are the older fronts and rear. i mean black on black as in black car with black rims but if you make your interior black that'll be pimp.
