the paint job turned out really nice Ive also had this problem with the primer I hate using primer now I try to use the clear primer now but it is intended for plastic and fliexible parts so only on my trim pieces i use it not on the metal body. otherwise it takes double the coats if i do and it only comes in red and grey, next time ill take a look at the bodyshop paint supplies primer cans.

This is a pretty sweet DIY. But I have a feeling that if I go through with it to do either my new bumper OR even my entire car, I'd really mess it up. lol. Long shot, but anyone wanna work on my Civic with me as a side project?

ill be redoing my passenger quarter panel again as my wifey leaned a laundry basket on the side of the car and scraped off the paint finish and scratched it up pretty badly.
has anyone used the white primer with a milano red base? i have some brown and grey primer but last time i used it it showed through even after a many coats of my red. and the only other primer i have is a plastic clear primer and zinc chromate?

to be honest, I've learned to have a very similar finish to the air gun. Primer, base coat, clearcoat, wetsand with 1500grit, polish, buff, wax and you're got glass smooth finish!
I've never bought paint at napa, so I couldn't tell you.

hmmmm....how do spray bombs hold up to stone chips and small dents?
I've always wondered that....has anyone shot their front bumper and frequents the high way provide some input.
Flex agent is required for bumpers/skirts/moldings moreso for the small impacts and dings. But if your confident your not going to hit anything...or nobody is going to hit you, its not necessary.
Oh yeah to re-iterate the safety of using a respirator...especially when shooting clearcoat, if the product contains an activator or hardener (because they contain isocynates) definitely wear a mask. I'm pretty sure you don't want any sort of breathing problems down the line lol well you AND whoever is around should wear a mask when painting; the smell of reducer is nastier than thinner.

My lip held pretty damn well, I haven't had to repray it because I use adhesion promoter on all my plastic pieces. The hood is carbon fibre, so I didn't use it on that, but I would use adhesion promoter on that as well. Cawthra sells ahesion promoter for about $22 a can plus tax. Spray it once you have the primer on, and sanded ready for base coat. After 5 minutes of drying off the adhesion promoter, make sure you spray basecoat over top asap.
As for respirator use, I totally agree that it's safer to have one around. About $50 at canadian tire. They have cheaper brands for wood grains going for $22 each, but I wouldn't recommend it for painting.
