he lives here in Hamilton... His Sudanese neighbours are actually pretty friendly. They've been here just over a year.

It was the strangest thing to watch. It could be because they don't have much money. Its probably why.

do they like the taste? beats me

Believe me, I find it strange too.

lol

but really!

off the tree and into their mouth.

Its not like I have watched them pick leaves and bring them into the house, and then assumed they eat them...

right off the tree

Way to make me feel bad from my previous post.

Is this their house? As in they bought it? How do they afford it only a year into the country?

^^ that's what I was wondering how do you have a house and can't afford crackers and water?

Welfare?
Food banks?

I'd get a job at McDonalds atleast I could get even cheaper food when I was on shift... I mean McD's isn't great food, but it can't be less nutritious than leaves off our trees... it's not even grass... aside from giraffes I can't think of any other animals that eat leaves... and even then they eat leaves from different trees than the ones we have here

They certainly don't own the house (most likely renting). There is probably 8 or so people living there. I think they all work too, except for some high school aged kids.

I know they are Christian, they go to a local church somewhere in the city. That is as much as I know about them.

Its probably something they were used to doing from back home (eating leaves).

I know this is a bit off topic about "what are we eating right now", but they might have sponsors into Canada. A house was bought for them, meaning a mortgage was set up by their sponsors and they just have to work and pay for the mortgage. With the price of houses around here, it wouldn't surprise me if they're just from paycheque to paycheque.
