video/audio editing software

I took a couple short vids with a buddy the other night, so now I'm looking for a video/audio editing software.. something where I can extract the audio from a video file and add it back in wherever I want in the video, or add in music or whatnot over a video.. and something that is able to cut the video, add clips together, add effects, etc.. I've found a few programs so far but they're not too user friendly.. anyone have any suggestions?

a friend of me from holland can work damn well with video-editors, it's his hobby, he's running a pc with dual 3.2Ghz cpu's , 2 gigs of DDR 2 RAM and almost 1 terrabyte HDD's :P, will ask him which program is the best, cause i'm lookin' to do the same thing as you did.

Adobe Primere Pro 1.5, thats a good one, lots of options & effects, multiple audio track.. little tricky but for quality home video editing on a regular basis I'd say its pretty good. You're not gunna create no lord of the rings but ya...

If you wanna just slap some clips together with star wipes and add a mp3, Pinnacale Studio 9 Pro is just super

ive used adobe premiere for the longest time, but before installing it this semester for school I decided to use windows movie make, and found it to be more than enough for everday stuff, and very very easy to use, so its a thumbs up for me.

very true, its good to have all the tools that premier has, but things like effects etc are more than enough in movie maker, besides, when putting together a movie, the more effects and transition syou use the movies gonna get really crowded and its not gonna be fun to watch anymore

thanks for the tip.. I don't plan on going nuts with the effects, just maybe one or two for some interest.. it really depends on what they do and how they look.. I downloaded some cheapass programs and I didn't even like any of them that were on there..
