Toronto Maple Leafs revised 2008 Schedule

January
15 vs. Bloomington Jr. High School Girls
22 vs. Cub Scout Troop #101
29 vs. CNIB Senior Team

February
5 vs. Spanish-American War Vets
12 vs. Crippled Children's Hospital
19 vs. St. Cloud Home for Wayward Girls
26 vs. Girl Scout Troop #**

March
5 vs. Ontario VD Clinic Post #3
12 vs. Church Street Boy's Choir
19 vs. Korean War Amputees
26 vs. VA Hospital Polio Patients

Special Monday Night Game:
March 3 vs. Utopia Gay Boys

Name Change:
The Toronto Maple Leafs will be changed to the Toronto Tampons' as they are only good for one period, and they don't have a second string.

Coaching Change:
Paul Maurice will be replaced by Pamela Anderson. No doubt she will blow a few, but she won't choke up on the BIG ONE.

Rule Changes:
1. When playing the Girl Scouts, the Leafs must not eat their cookies.
2. The Leafs will be allowed to substitute with band members at any time during the game.
3. When playing the Polio Patients, the Leafs must not disconnect any of the leg braces.
4. There will be no more dancing with opposing teams, like the last time they played the Utopia Gay Boys.
5. The Leafs MUST PROMISE to remember that when the referee drops the puck, this signals the beginning of play. This is to ensure that no more time will be wasted while the Leafs try to figure out what just happened.
6. The Leafs must also stop tangling the crippled children in the net mesh.

Hahaha...riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

They have to win 23 of the last 35 games to have a chance at the playoffs.

Just an FYI, they won 16 of the first 40 games.....so yeah, they have a good chance

That is what's known as a gambler's fallacy: the outcome of future events has nothing to do with its precedings.

Nevertheless, :violin:

shlammed 16-Jan-2008 09:13 AM

all sarcasm aside

i can't believe they're still only 6 points out of a playoff spot

It's a tight race indeed, they do have a chance, it's just that media and fans/non-fans love it when controversy is at its peak....makes for good conversation I guess

There is no controversy. It's a no brainer that JFJ has to go. He's been here for 5 years and where has it got them?

Well if there is no change done to the team, how and why would the outcome be so much different in the 2nd half of the season (ie. a 40% success rate will improve to a 60% success rate, not likely).

Don't get me wrong, I hope this miracle happens so I can enjoy the playoffs again!

shlammed 16-Jan-2008 09:19 AM

I would laugh so hard if the leafs finished 8th and eliminated Ottawa again.

There are different variables...nuff said

Anyways, yeah NHL playoffs in T.O need to come back soon!

That would be the best thing EVER! Then I'd party, get drunk and pass out.

Double B 16-Jan-2008 09:36 AM

PLuuuuuesssssssssse!! You guys make me laugh. Seriously, this is the same conversationn every year. Whether they make the playoffs or not, they aren't going anywhere. Leaf fans hang on to whatever they can, no matter how bleak things are. This is why they will never win a cup again. As long as you guys are loyal and keep paying to see them and sell out, there is absolutely NO reason for them to change anything. They need an overhaul at leaf kingdom. They have to be one of the top teams with the most oldest guys on it.

Seriously, they have sucked for the past few years. Sundin is not getting any younger, how long are they going to keep him before its too late to get anything for him.

Cynikal.Mindset 16-Jan-2008 09:38 AM

just call it a day and bring up all the boys from st johns and send all the "pros" out there

Time will tell. It's not a matter of hanging on to whatever whenever, being a fan I would like to see change too, but I'm still a fan, I'm not gonna buy into the media outlets competing with each other, trying to dig up the most dirt on the team, I have my opinion and I keep it to myself. You're NOT a fan, and yet still you can't keep yours to yourself.

jdesouz 16-Jan-2008 09:42 AM

that was pretty jokes stil haha

Cynikal.Mindset 16-Jan-2008 09:42 AM

as a fan it is your duty to admit they suck!!!!!!!

B'dEH2 16-Jan-2008 09:43 AM

lol wtf my buddy JUST showed me this on paper at school

they moved the AHL team to torontoooooo

Jay P 16-Jan-2008 09:44 AM

the leafs had no excuse but to win last night, carolina played an ahl goalie and half the hurricanes are recovering from the flu lol

had free tixs to the game in the golds last night.... im good luck lol

Double B 16-Jan-2008 09:45 AM

Whether I am a fan or not, is irrelevant. I don't hate the leafs, but I love to bug leaf fans. Other than that, I have been saying this for years about them and just looking at things objectively. Did the same thing about the Raps and I am a fan of them. It's not hard to see that what they have been doing isn't working, don't need to be a rocket scientist for that. Also, when I say Fans, I am talking overall. Nothing wrong in being diehard, but to think every year they may have a chance and think the product they produce every year with little change, or the change is guys that are on the decline of their careers is going to do it is not very promising.

You can agree or disagree, but bottom line, MLSE will make money either way you cut it and the fans are getting ripped.

Cynikal.Mindset 16-Jan-2008 09:48 AM

the fans arent getting ripped...until they smarten up and stop thinking "this year the cup is ours" and start to admit they suck and things need to change and do something about it they are getting what they pay for

Nova_Dust 16-Jan-2008 09:48 AM

"Toronto fans are either incredibly loyal, or incredibly stupid."

Jay P 16-Jan-2008 09:54 AM

there was a pretty loud "fire fergeson" chant late in teh 3rd... could you guys hear it on tv?

shlammed 16-Jan-2008 10:00 AM

it could be a good thing

at least they'll get a decent draft pick

as long as JFJ isn't still around to trade it way for another 35 year old

I love that quote! Bobcat knows what time is it!

Jay P 16-Jan-2008 10:02 AM

this coming draft is deep... a good time for a team like toronto to pick up some draft picks and stock up on some talent to complement pogge in a few years

Exactly!!

Will it happen? Probably not.

Jay P 16-Jan-2008 10:10 AM

philly is a great example on how to rebuild quickly

Double B 16-Jan-2008 11:12 AM

Or Pittsburgh but a little longer.

Philly already had a nice young core. Apparently, the leafs have the worse core of young players according the sportsnet last night.

If you build it(new Leaf team)........he (Stanley) will come.

Redeyelove 16-Jan-2008 11:17 AM

Anyone happen to see that youtube video on the news last night? It was a tickle me elmo in a mini habs jersey laughing it up in a small makeshift leafs shrine. Jokes :)

Nova_Dust 16-Jan-2008 02:03 PM

I don't really follow any sports. But as an Ontarian, I suppose I should show some support for our local sport teams.

mm, go leafs go?
