I've been hearing/reading about this for a while in the papers and just wanted to see what you people think of the issue.

Personally I think it's wrong that a city councillor tried to petition to get Fantino's contract re-newed. If it's not within the city council to renew his contract then it dont matter what they say or feel. It's really up to the Police Board to do it.

If they want Fantino's contract to be renewed and this is done thru petitioning what's to stop them from petitioning for more things that they want that are out of their jurisdiction???

Personally I think NOT renewing his contract is a good thing. Didnt really follow is career but people say that he's done some good work. But the reason I think it shouldn't be renewed was his stance in the recent profiling expose.

Just wanted to see what you people think about this.

I thought he did his job well.
I also heard that the petition will not affect his re-instatement at all either, so it is kind of pointless to sign it.

a vote should be based on a majority...
that's a 51-49 split minimum..
the vote was 50-50...

why couldn't they have waited until the panel was back up to 7 members (October i believe??)

these political ******** want the chief to do things their way and Fantino refused to do it...power to him!!!

(expect to see him run against Miller come the next election tho )
