THEY released it in the states and not Canada cause the world doesn't care if americans going racing after and get killed.
The world loves Canada, so death to the states.

It was basically an independent movie with a large budget and Canadian Box Office totals are a very big part of the total weekend take. I can totally understand why someone wouldn't release a movie here.
