I was told that I could purchase a mobile *prepaid* internet card that I just slip into my laptop in the usb or somethign like that and can use it anywhere overseas or whatever. Anyone ever heard of this cause I sure as hell haven't?

yes but they will only work for the country you got it from.

for example if you get telus wirless internet card, you have to use it in canada and you will be using telus service to get the internet. but if you go to lets say Norway it will not work.

we give out these card to all the remote users we have in our company for their laptops but if they go to NY, cards do not work. and its not like pre-paid card like for cellphone, its a proper wireless internet card, and you have to pay for the card it self as well, which is little pricey IMO

gsm wireless air cards work all over the world cuz they can use a sim card from your phone...or if you really wanted you could just tether your phone to your laptop and use the internet connection from your phone if you travel and dont wanna buy a card
