the thing about sales is...either you have it or you dont...since he has experience, and thinks he can do it, then just try it...rogers will start you off nicely.

If it's too good to be true, it is. I hate sales..done it for 2 different company in the past. I've moved on. Most sales places have gimmicks like earn the 60-70 Gs a year or like $30/hr no experience neccessary. But what you don't know is the reality is that you'll be pulling in 30-35 Gs a year. Since the base salary is 18 Gs, they can say "Don't be so down, you've already doubled your base salary!"

Stability is key for the future. I doubt you wanna be working 18/h days to put food on your table. Providing is essential.
Sell sand to an Arab, who sells sand to a desert?

Don't take the sales job just yet, if you are making 37k, ask for a raise in the department you work, you should take the risk later when you are settled in and have an idea of how much your expenses are with a family, that way you can decide if sales will make you enough money or not depending of how much time you spend, because too much time on work and the family gets messed up.

Depending on what products you will be selling you will have to watch and read & watch business news, sales depend on the economy, and the Canadian economy is not that dependable in the long run, anyways good luck, and I think someone may have already mentioned it, but sales is a very difficult job only those people are successful at it who are interested In it, plus a lot of *** kissing for the clients.

I used to do sales earlier in my career, but I hated it was okay/good money, but it depended on how much you worked, I wanted to make a big salary and not work much, so I went executive, it paid off, but if you can sell, do it.

I know, I had to work my *** off when I was working sales for Sony, the lager 150k number they show are of those employees who are cut throat, and who will back stab other fellow sales associates to get ahead, and maybe out of ten two would make anything above 100k, the rest would be much less.

i used to work at future shop. I started off at hourly wage. Then they saw that i can sell well and asked me to move to commission. It was a risk cuz i wouldnt even be making hourly ne more just STRAIGHT commission. However i took the plunge and never regreted it. I made more money on commission then i new what to do with! If you a good sales person i say go for it. If ur hesitant about sales and ur ability to make money in sales dont. But i mean you'll gain experience over time and maybe at first u wont be good but u'll pick up tricks and stuff that will help u close deals. I say go for it!

well the product generally sells itself, my friend is not sales oriented at all and he is middle aged and a more of a relaxed kind of labor guy. He loves it and has freedom to go and do whatever he wants with the exception his phone is constantly ringing, which he does not mind.

In any case I would be more suited for the job, as im more ambitious, physically fit and i dont mind sales and the bit of technical installation side, as it is selling rogers products, cable internet and telephone. its just a big leap of faith I guess. I think i may take the job and try it out, besides i can always go back to my old position, but i will probably regret it, if i never give myself a chance at it. I think that aloto f people hesitate and are too scared to take the move annd thats wht those who go for it often reap the benefits and make the big money. I think i would be working no harder then i am now except i will have the freedom of when i want to do my marketting and sales leads.

Thanks for the insight everyone I appreciate it!
