graduated engineers.. will you help me?

so i want an engineering ring. they're pretty cheap to get replaced for you guys, I'll pay for the ring and get you some beers if you can hook it up.

i want an engineering ring to **** off a few engineers i know who made a big deal about me not being able to get one when I said it looked cool.

i wanted this a few years ago, but i don't care all that much. that other thread made me think about posting it here.

my pinky is a size 8 i think.

It is an octegon shape ring or something with angles like that, right?

Our rings is just a plain silver one with a black thin band around it. Architect has just a silver ring.

Just get your own made, but i highly doubt you'll be able to get one from an engineer. I don't think my dad has ever taken his off, and my buddies that just received they're are all nuts over them.

the ring is not a fashion statement. it's symbolic and a constant reminder of the importance of their jobs. people seem to forget that and think of it only as a tradition.

we would love to help you, but we're actually proud of our rings and the fact that only we are able to get them

Well, I'm speechless. I not sure what to say. First off, those of you who think we engineers show our rings off to people just to gain respect are sadly mistaken. Secondly, it's human nature to be proud of our accomplishments. Thus, I am proud of my ring but, I don't deliberately try and work it into a conversation with my friends...LOL...that's just too funny...hahahaha. It is a symbol of our hard work and dedication to the field and it reminds me of all the hard work I put into attaining it. I'm sorry if this upsets you guys who think this ring maybe ghey or what not but, honestly, you guys need to get out there and get a life and meet people. All this hostility over a ring is infantile.

Engineer here, but i dont even wear my ring. But yea i am dam proud of that ring. It cost me over $25G and a lot of hard work to earn it.

The actually purpose of the engineering ring is to remind engineers of their committement to the health and saftey of society with anything they do. We got big responsibilities!

exactly..... I see that as a bad thing.

If you design/build/certify a bridge and it collapses and kills a lot of people, you can lose all your belongings in lawsuits. You'll be screwed.

If I design/build/certify a bridge and it collapses and kills a lot of people, I can sit back and laugh at the engineers.
