Thanks everyone, "Most" of you make a good point, but remember, she is mad at me for getting upset in the moment, I am not to bothered about it, can let go of a lot of stuff, I am just "bothered" by the whole ordeal, thats all.

damn thats tight dude, if it's only the glove box, 2 screws and its out, just repaint it. Don't worry I would have done the same thing as you did. Most women don't understand what our cars mean to us so thats why they act the way they act. I had a situation when a chick was leaning on my car and I freaking snapped on her b/c it was a week old fresh paint and she got pissed off at me. So if she realizes what your car really means to you she would probably appologize and help you repaint it. Sorry for the long post people. Take it easy

i think this probably has something to do with the whole woman's way of thinking. they are always insecure about themselves and are afraid that a guy is more attached to their car than to them. and i think by getting really pissed off at that moment she probably got angry because now she thinks you care more about the car than her. just my 2 cents

She's also probley doesn't want to admitt she's done somthing wrong...so she's foucsing(sp?) on what you did, in order to distract from what she did..

Don't let her get away with that "Girl stuff" they do that alot...they are wrong but we are in trouble...again just make sure she understand what she did

I've told my GF NOT to smoke in my car and she does freely with out a care in the world....trust me if i see a burn mark...i'm getting new leather thanks to her..

I'll respect her Stuff if she respects mine

hey shane...sorry to hear that...i feel for you..but i have to agree with ginacivic...not everyone will feel the same way like us because they are not much into cars like us too...for your gf she is mad because it's "only" a little scartch and you went overboard, but for us it's a big deal because we love our car and we take care of it like a human being...

Yeah right! Good luck trying to get leathers after she burns your seats.

You're a Sucker!!!

The fact remains that its your car, and you asked her not to smoke in it.

The fact she does so freely shows she has no respect for you.

You shouldn't have to negotiate.

dump the bitch

if she's doing that then you really need to find a new gf. she obviously doesnt respect you or your stuff.

It is definitely unfortunate that happened. If I went to all that work I would be pissed off too..but only for a little while because as a girl I must say it is obvious that she didnt mean to do it..she should have at least given u a kiss goodbye and said im sorry hunny ill help you fix it!
No car is worth the ending of a meaningful long-term relationship...well maybe a few

Some "meaningful long term relationships" should be ended way before many of them actually are.

And its not about a car, its about R-E-S-P-E-C-T

an eye for an eye...

she scratched your car...

so now you should scratch her!

i suggest a rusty ice hook

try taking it out........ and put tape off the rest of the dash, except for a little square about 4x4 inches ( depending on how big the scratch is )

sand it down........and try redoing that area?

calm down sam

i do agree that you had a right to be upset, and she should've been a little more considerate for the work you did, but it still was a mistake.
just like most other people have said your relationship is worth much more than your car, but at the same time you should make sure that she understands why you were upset and that so in future you won't have to go through this again.
some of my friends do things like that w/o realizing, one time my best friend scratched the paint on my car....i freaked out and she was upset w/ me for how i reacted. i later realized that it was just a mistake, but i reminded her how much time and effort i've put into my car and just how much it means to me. now she along with all my other friends are much more careful w/ my car b/c they realize that it's not 'just a car' to me

Yes there should be Respect...Fully hear you..but in a relationship
there is also compromise....she knows if she burns the seats she's
replacing them..been dating her for 2.5year and will marry her, so
our agreement is solid...burn marks=new seats

My main point was to let your girlfriend understand what she did
was really upsetting because.....(insert guilt here)
