guys
future shop doesn't make base + commisssion
they make base OR commission
(unless things have changed alot since I worked there)
if you have a bad week you get your base pay which is your hourly pay
if you have a decent or good week, meaning your commission is higher then your base pay, you get your commission pay

well this is kinda off topic but if u really want a high paying job that pretty much has the same amount of work as a retail, try workin at a factory. i work at wrigley canada as a student and they give me 15.00 an hour (starting 13.50 then u get 15.00 after six months.)
work load is not hard at all its just the schedule like 12 hour shifts but u get two days on then two days off alternating. u can also try other manufacturing plants that really dont require heavy jobs.
i guess the only down side of it is that u might get injured if u dont work safely so thats y stay with company that makes small products like bubble gum, soap, toys etc.
ne ways hope this helps a bit

FutureShop has changed to what they call image 2, thats where they have a few selected Product Experts who make base plus commission. I worked there for 3.5 years so I know the system there really well, and no your dont need to be a good in sales to work there or make good money. Just know what your talking about and its just luck who you get. The most i've made at Futureshop in 1 day was 1035$ on a boxing day. But keep in mind they're trying hard to get away from commission sales, it won't be long until its all hourly wage there.

employee dicount is really good though.
Also if your on commission and you can sell its amazing. At my store that i worked at there was a guy in the computer department he was the highest paid Futureshop commission employee in all of Canada. He earned $120 000 in his best year

when i was there for a christmas season it was base or commission, commission was killer, like DXcivicHB said its gone to image 2 now which means they'll eventually phase out commission sales and be like best buy
