My cousin is looking for a body kit for his 97 Cavalier and was looking to buy it off ebay but what he wants to know is about the border taxes. He wants to find out if it will be cheaper to buy a body kit off ebay or if he should buy it from a local dealer. So my question is have anybody bought a body kit off ebay and how much where the border taxes.

The more the item is, the more taxes you'll pay. Believe it or not, method of shipping is a major factor in that as well.
UPS charges some BS brokerage fees, but I've never paid this brokerage fee from Fedex or Canada Post.
So just be warned that if the shipper uses UPS, your cousin will have to pay taxes and the ridiculous brokerage fee.
btw, I hate UPS....

you have to use USPS worldwide or whatever.. the brokerage fees will be included.. don't quote me though.
ask for the person to mark it as "used" and drop the value down by half or more.

just e-mail whoever it is your buying anything from and he should be able to tell you, but most of them say that they have nothing to do with it....that's usually the common answer

ups doesn't include brokrage fees thats why @ first they may be cheaper untill they get to your door and ask for your money
just make sure when you order online and from ebay - get the seller to mark as gift when they can (larger items may be hard to do this) and also get them to lower th estimated value of the item in their paperwork - if duty fees need to be paid this would lower the amount you have too

I bought my body kit from E-bay a few years back and I did have to pay taxes. Can't remember the exact amount I paid, but it wasn't cheap. It was something like 70-80 bucks, but the kit still came to be cheaper than if I were to buy it from a local shop.
Unless you know someone locally who can make you an offer you can't refuse , I'd always go for E-bay. Depending on where you get the kit from (and if the seller agrees) you can have the person shipping it declare that it's worth less than what it is, in which case you'd pay less tax.
