airforce one raps.. now big mac?
It doesn't matter whether you believe rap lyrics have a lot of meat in them. McDonald's does.
And now the fast food giant is prepared to put its money where music stars' mouths are, by paying rap artists who mention the Big Mac in their songs $5 every time their work is played on the radio down south.
At first glance, it seems like the kind of offer that would be instantly rejected by top artists like 50 Cent or Snoop Dogg. But they've done product placement lyrics in some of their music before, and if a tune were to become a huge hit, that $5 fee could rapidly turn into a small fortune.
The concept is part of the restaurant chain's marketing strategy to reach a younger crowd. Under the deal, the company would be able to veto any lyric that it felt was inappropriate, but would leave the method of incorporating the mention up to the individual artist.
McDonald's has hired a marketing firm called Maven Strategies to mix the meat with the beat.
And it's familiar territory for the ad specialists - they managed to get a Seagram's gin product mentioned in five hit songs last year, which is what attracted the food giant in the first place.
Product placement is becoming an increasingly common tool for advertisers in movies and TV, as more consumers selectively tune out commercials simply by hitting the remote during breaks in their favourite show.
They believe this latest Big Mac attack will be one message you can't ignore.
But many advocacy groups are already outraged by the McDonald's plan, arguing the chain promotes childhood obesity with its fast food, and that having kids' music heroes literally sing its praises will not only fatten company coffers, but the younger generation as well.

I hope these soccers moms would just die already.
McDonalds does not promote obesity. McDonalds promotes garbage junk food. Nobody with any acceptable amount of intelligence in this society would believe fast food to be healthy. Kids who get fat from eating McDeals everyday have stupid parents, and are not of concern.
A "gangster rapper" should not be a child's hero in the first place.
I think Ludacris should be advertising for KFC.
