who is the power window expert?

so....last night, i finally get in my car to go for a little cruise because its running right again and i drive around for a bit, when i park it the passenger side window wont go up. Everything else on the car works so its not a fuse. Im thinking the motor is seized or broken or something. I took my door panel off and tried to fiddle with it, all the wiring appears to be normal. any suggestions. what will a new motor from the junkyard run me...and i imagine its a real bitch to change. Can anyone helP?

jessie try this:

sit in passenger seat with car on.... well ok don't sit in the seat but place your ear against the inside of the door .... push the window up button... do you hear the motor turning?

I ask this because on my dad's minivan the windows are on a trac that connects to the motor and the track kept snapping... so I figure that might be it.... let me know

Well last night i took the door panel off..and looked at the motor while i pressed the button and absolutely nothing happened...no noise or humming or clicking nothing at all. If I do come fri night would you be able to identify what the problem is by seeing it or just speculate??

Jess..
if the guys are gonna look at it tonite, first thing to have them do is pull the power wire from the window motor, check it for power (test light)

if the harness has power when the switch is activated then you have a fooked motor..(use the wire in the harness for the test as it looks to be a ground activated circuit)
if you have no power, then it'll be in either the wiring or the switch itself..
switch can be checked for continuity with a multi-meter..if it's okay then it's in the wiring for sure and will have to be tracked back....

Jessie,

if you come to the meet tomorrow I'll make sure to pack my multi meter and I'll be able to trouble shoot the issue down to either electrical... (in which case it'll be fixed before you go back) or motor (as in it's dead and needs replacement.....

either way I'm sure figuring out a way to get the window rolled up so that the inside of the car doesn't get wet if it rains

anyways if and only if you wanna pay for my services I particularily like bronze rota circuit 8's

something else to note Jess, each window motor has a circuit breaker..might just be that it needs re-setting (some older models have to be manually reset..) or replacing rather than the whole motor unit..
again, the continuity test would tell you/them the status of the breaker..
