"Lord jesus buy, what are ya at" accent
That's really funny. I love hearing stories about our accent. Well, I'm not a bay-girl or a bay person.... I'm, what they call, a townie. Basically, I live in the most populated area of Newfoundland - St. John's. We don't have the famous accent, for the most part. Last year, on a trip to Toronto, I was travelling to Buffalo for the day. When crossing the border, the guard asked me where I was from. I said Newfoundland and he laughed, "Say something." I was like, "Why? Like what?" and he said, "Oh, your not like the rest." F---in' Yankees.

No offence taken. It's just annoying that whenever I leave the island everyone assumes that we all have this thick bay accent. Make no wonder there are so many darn "Newfie" jokes. I mean, I love Newfoundland and I'm proud to be a Newfoundlander, but this whole representation we receive in the media is horrible. CBC won't even air interviews with us townies, because we're not "newfoundlander" enough. Anyways, I don't want to bore you because I could go on forever...

strip the **** wax the dealer slap on and put on a few good coat of Zaino Bros. paint protectant. i also notice on a lot of new cars that don't arrive at dealers in a enclose container (like a new Bimmer 7 series i saw at downtown fine car), a lot of them have fine metallic dust on them. if you don't use a clay bar or other means to get them out on the paint, you'll start seeing tiny rust spot.
from what i have found out, those fine metallic dust is from the train the car arrive on. i think they are brake dust or something.

so it would be a good idea to protect it right from the beginning.

ummmm....this is just an observation i made while in NFLD last summer..although lots of people seem to be into the import scene therei cant see lowering your car to be a smart decision with the condition the roads are in there.

Well, first off, no one is in the import scene. There are only 2 Honda Civics "done up" in this area. There are a lot of cars "riced up" with "Fear This" and other stupid stickers / accessories from WalMart. Those people are just plain weird.

Second of all, I don't live in the outport communities. I live in the city. The roads are fine... just as good as anything in Toronto.

i spent my time with the family in cornerbrook the roads were awful and it was all hills but i did get over to st johns and the roads were much better.....i dont know if this helps but i also spent a week or so in halifax where i seen everything from meets to races although they were all mostly stangs and what nots there were a few imports reppin.. 1 guy even had a swap in his civic...from what i was told there r a couple capable shops and a much bigger scene there i realize its a bit of a haul for u being in st. johns but if u r spending serious money it might be worth the road trip.

Well, my plan is to save up some money between now and next summer. Then, for my holidays, my buddies and I have been trying to arrange a road trip. We've been talking about it for years. So, now that I have my own car, we'll do it. Depending on how much I save, will determine what I can get done. In this order:
1)rims
2)rubber
3)springs/shocks
4)intake
5)exhaust

Construction? Wow... you said it. Everytime I visit Toronto, something is under construction. My luck, it's always the 401 or a major road and it takes me 2 hours to get downtown.

actually, i think some friends and I are gonna fly up there to party for the weekend this summer
Maybe we'll be there the same time. Hope you like to party.

Newfoundland is THE place to party man... Halifax isn't too bad either..

Apparently, from my hazzy recollection of being out there briefly for military training the girls in those two places seem to like us "big city folk" and are VERY friendly

I'll come party too since flights to Newfoundland (booked a few weeks in advance) are only like 300.00.

Regards,
OK

Well, I can proudly say that Newfoundland has a place called George Street and it has the most bars per square inch in all of North America. It's one street with about 30 clubs or more... definitely a place to party.

$300?!! That's it?! Wow... I can't believe who cheap that is. For me to fly to Toronto, on a seat sale, is usually $500-600. The cheapest I ever flew up was $424 on a student seat sale sold by the University.

So, yeah, come on down and party with us Newfies! I'll pick y'all up... how many can fit in a new Civic?

Well, when you get to NFLD, check out George Street... 30 bars and a lot of women, I assure you, that love the city folk.
