Verification on Trim Lvl Options for 92-95 Civic Hatchbacks

Hey TCC Members,

My friend has been trying to find a 92-95 Si hatchback here in Winnipeg but were uncertain what options are suppose to be standard on a Si hatchback in this generation for hatchbacks.

Me and my friend found a hatchback and the ad states it's an Si. When we went to test drive it, the seller states it's an Si but when we test drove it, it didn't come with A/C, power locks, power windows, and "Power Steering!" The thing is it came with a power moonroof and cruise control. So i'm kind of in a dilemna, in my mind i thought Si Hatchbacks come loaded and aren't they "Top of the Line model" for those year's? Also did the hatches in those year's come standard with a 1.6L Vtec engine?

Well that's my story of my experience checking out a used vehicle from a private sale. If any TCC member on this board could clarify the options on the trim levels for the civic hatchs for that gen it would be greatful to my friend to watch out what to expect on the options for those hatches. Thanks in advance for the replies and the time to help me and my friend.

An Si doesnt necessarily have to ahve all the "goodies" normally, SI's come with a sunroof, and that is how u can tell if it's an SI. If the motor does not say VTEC on the cover, then it is not an SI. The reason some SI's are not loaded with stuff is because when they were fresh on the market between the years of 92 and 95, people bought them new, with their own sense of upgrades that they wanted...like power locks, power steering...etc.

the engine block should say D16Z6 and their should be a sunroof

other then that I believe the rest of the items were options... but I could be wrong on that

No hartch came with power windows or power locks ... so they wouldn't be there.

But - if it has a power moonroof - it is an Si.

Also, if it is a 92 - check for rear disk brakes.

...and of course -- motor = d16z6

Thanks TCC Members for the quick response, ok so a quick hint it's an Si is the moonroof. I'll take a look at the engine code to see if it's really the d16z6 engine. Also for the trim level called "DX," do those hatches come with A/C standard and power steering standard?

Touch to tell because you can add those two options. On my first hatch (CX) I had A/C added (was living in Nevada)

Best bet is to look at the code on the block.

The valve cover may NOT say vtec on it which somebody stated. My si is vtech but its not stamped on the cover. look for the solenoid. Also only the american models came stock with 4 wheel disk brakes.
