Thinking of Buying a Civic

Hey guys, as you might guess i know nothing about civics, absolutely **** all, well anyway im planning on getting a civic because the bmw is just way too expensive to handle right now, being a 93 its chosen this year to give out, suspension giving out, tyres bald as sin, and a few more, so im thinking of giving up on her for a bit, until i start making alot more than i make now, well anyway im planning on buying a Honda Civic, and ive seen a few so far and i kinda like the 2 doors, nice and not too long like the 4 doors, well im wondering could you guys/gals help me out tell me which models to look out for, which one would be a good choice, cause i dont know a whole lot, like Si non Si, thanks alot.

*Edit* : Plus i like the way it looks, and have no problem being a ricer, find the civic is a nice car done up, unlike another maxbimmer member *cough* bmwm5lover *cough*...we're just as pissed about him bad mouthing you as you guys are, uncalled for. no hard feelings

well price isnt really an issue, more in the looking and research stage then buying it, if anything i pay for half dad covers the rest, but im looking for like a 96, that would be a good year, and i have no idea how much civic's have in terms of HP, like dunno the difference between v-tec and non v-tec, so im wondering should i be looking for a v-tec or stick without one, engine mods arent really important so i guess HP isnt too important, but id touch it up later on of course, and a engine swap would be the best way but like what im concernd about is like i see tons of civics with like Si, Sir and so on, no idea which is best.

1996-2000 (6th gen)

SiR = 1.6 160hp dohc v-tec (99-00 only)
Si = 1.6 127 hp sohc v-tec
Dx = 1.6 106 sohc non v-tec (hb or coupe)
Cx = same as Dx but less options and hb only
Lx + Ex = same engine as Cx/Dx, but both are sedans
Se = fully loaded version of Dx

If I were dropping down from a 325i I would get 96-99 coupe.

If you don't want to fuss alot with modifying the car, get an Si at least. SiR is better.

1Solid_DX has shown you the engine options.

Now.

1996-1998 Si : Power everything, sunroof, AC, ABS, 14"wheels with wheel covers, etc.
1999-2000 Si : Same as above but has standard CD, height adjustable seats, additional reading lights, and heated mirrors.

1999-2000 SiR: Same as above, but leather wrapped steering wheel,shifter, and 15"rims. However, in terms of performance, the suspension, exhaust, rims, (and obviously)engine are above the Si's.

To make is simple for you, I'll leave you like this.

93' 318is === Civic Si
93' 325is === Civic SiR

Remember not literally, but in comparison.

Anything I left out? Sorry couldn't help more.

but if you're planning on doing a swap, get a low model like CX, or DX if you want coupe...

If not, then go for a Si, if a SiR is out of your range...

I have a DX coupe, there isnt a huge difference from the Si...21 more hp and a sunroof basically...but the Si is priced much higher than a DX...

yeah, if you are gonna modify, such as swap, then buy the DX like solid DX said.

upgrade engine and suspension and you'll be happy.

let us know what you plan to do. we'll go from there.
