Thieves!

I have just sold my car, and in the listing I accidently put a slightly blurred shot of the plate. Blown up, you could make it out. Some low life tried to steal the car last night, but was unsuccessful fortunutely. Coincedence? I doubt it. Let this be a lesson!! The only information I have is that they drive a silver mazda of some kind. I HATE scammers!!

They could have followed you home or known where you live. It could be someone that knows you. There are much easier ways of finding out a persons address then from a licence plate.

i woulndt completely say that. well maybe nowadays,im ont sure. i if anybody saw that cbc special a few weeks ago, there was a guy who ran a huge ring in vancouver i think. all he needed was your lisence plate and he would go to one of those kiosks and put in the plate number and he could get a printout of the owners complete info. like if u just go to renew plates theres an option to put in your plate number as id for the car.

he like wrote to the dmv saying he was the owner and had forged documents saying he was the owner as well and he got them to send him papers about the ownership or something(forgot the details about that part) and he took all the documents and walked right into an audi delaership and asked them for a spare key cuz he lost his!!
and they gave it to him...done and done. when they found his hideout, they said it was run as tight as a business, he had like 130 keys, all to highend cars and files on everybody in filing cabinets and stuff.

anywho, im not saying thats what happened to you at all, i was just responding to that comment
and hopefully theyve made the kiosks a little more secure.

that guy was probably trained to manipulate those ministry people... i think its not proper for them to give you info when you can't provide proper documents to identify yourself with the car... atleast lots of those people here in toronto doesn't let you do it, only some are nice enough but they are stupid...

well, i also doubt its because of the plate that lead to this... its almost certain that its your neighborhood or people who has follow you for awhile... like know where you go, when do you go out, when do you return home, when do you stay home, etc. its a planned thing... no one can prevent thieves, they are simply everywhere, anyone can potentially be a theive... only way to avoid it is, not to show off your ride at all... drive low-profile, no music blasting... then you're much much safer =)
