Are you qualified to do youir own brake, steering and suspension gear inspections?

Sure, if they break warranty may cover it, but warranty won't prevent the crash and injuries caused by a prematurely worn or broken component.

For the life of me I can't fathom how people are willing to pay tens of thousands for a new car and insurance, and then more on top of that for option "candy", but then cheap out when it comes to even the most basic maintenance.

Rjngo...it sure is a tough one for you

When i went to get my type-4 done at 100K, it was over $450 taxes in. That was more than my car payment and insurance combined for one month...it just sucked. Dealers make more money for financing and servicing than they do when they sell the cars so thats why their prices are high.

I would call Honda customer service (1-888-9-HONDA-9) and ask them clearly about the voidance of the warranty if you dont get the scheduled service done or you get it done from another garage (certified / not certified). Dont give them any personal info and just ask what the warranty policy is...that is a quick way

Half of the ppl on this forum will say go to Honda while the other half will be against it. Its your call at the end of the day....so follow your gut feeling.

If money is tight...consider skipping now but do go to Honda later on for other work. If you skip Hona, make sure you go to a certified place...there may not be a big difference in price (like CT, Jiffy etc.) but what the hell...you can still save a bit.
