Wow...that was a long read...phew.
Now, my 2 cents..
Companies sponsor cars for advertisment...to advertise their product in hopes people will purchase them. Personally, I think WE, if not anyone else, are that people. I agree with what was previously said...the market you want to attract isn't those whos cars are already a rolling money pit but, it's the guys and gals who want to customize and make their car their own in their own way...Granted, some more elaborate than others. I see people driving around in their cars with tons of decals of companies like Tein, GAB, Sparco, Toyo...etc. Now, in most cases, do you really think these people receive a check every month to advertise their product? Hell NO! Hell, go to pacmall and you can get a bag full for 20 bucks. The car may look like crap to me and you and maybe some of those companies that that car's got stuck on to their car but, does that give them the right to ask the owner to remove them???...NO. Advertisement is advertisement and free advertisement is better. If these companies haven't said anything, who the hell do you think you are?? lol. You say people expect to come to a show to see only heavily modified cars that can't be driven day to day...ok...I can accept that. You say people don't want to see stock cars with rims at a show??...I can accept that too. There will always be a few people with opinions like that no matter where you go. But, can you say with any amount of certainty, you know for sure that that car is only modified with rims??? NO. Exactly. Nowadays, anything can be deemed as custom or modified...who are you to judge otherwise? Do you speak for the industry? Please!...pfft...lol. This industry is growing everyday. There is room for all of us don't you think? Hell, I feel sorry for whatever sponsors that you've got now cause I'd tell em, "I wouldn't buy anything they produce because the kind of riff-raff you guys choose to sponsor who don't realize it is us who bought all the parts on your so-called sponsored car. WE are the ones. Not them. Customers are what pays the bills. Customers are what puts food on the table...and it's Customers who paid for your so-called parts." So don't give me this bull crap. I am a provider of this industry...and I'm feeling really sorry for those who sponsor you and am glad I do not.

sourcing out new top quility jdm parts for a 17 year old car is much harder than pointing at a cataloge and saying ill take that.
give me a break.
trust me an s2k full of japanese parts is easily done.you just need money.and it still isnt jdm.it's a want to be jdm thats what makes it aftermarket jdm.
and everything i do to my car is done while im supporting 2 kids and a wife and being permantly injuried on a fixed income.
so excuse me when i feel ripped when they give out an award to a car that doesnt belong in that class.
i dont get grouped with the civic hatchbacks i get grouped with the jdm cars ya jdm right hand drive.
and for the record if a silvia or a skyline took the trophy i would be more than happy for the winner.
