speedstar had baller cars and their cars deserved to win something...the tcc booth could have been better...a select few cars looked like they belonged, while a handful of other cars looked extremely out of place...stock cars with rims don't belong in shows...tcc should be more picky with the cars they put in shows because it makes their show team look weak...so many people walked by the booth and laughed...fyi...christmas lights are a no no, and if you have a dirty engine bay...close your hood...

I see your point about JDM, though I have to agree with Danny on this one. JDM right hand drive civic doesnt win best JDM award? now being best JDM = most authentic looking JDM car, at least thats my opinion, and you cannot get more authentic then RHD civic.... my 2cents.

To defend the show team: Our show team is not about extremly modded out cars, the team is about people coming out and having a great time, thats like saying because it's called Toronto Civic Club, b/c you dont have a Civic get out!, Not true. I applaude those that came out, and so what if they wanted to use Christmas lights, thats what they wanted. Im sorry we dont have the funding to put up trusses and huge theatrical lighting, we dont need that sh*t to survive, we have our members and the support of the members. I like having all of the cars come out to shows, it shows that were a club about people, not the cars. Everyone has to start out somewhere, and if it means they bring their stock car into a show to get a taste of it and then they start modding so be it, but dont come in here and tell me that people were laughing at us, b/c I find it funny that if they were laughing how come so many new members signed up that day? and we have the respect of so many people out there? Hmmmm, maybe next show we can be un original like everyone else out there and have a DJ and some ugly girls sit on our hoods! Speedstar had and what looked like really expensive cars with different rims on them wow! You also have to remember the people who had these big booths have title sponsors behind them, no one in our booth have sponsors, this is our own money.

If you dont have anything nice to say, dont say it at all.

I will defend my team till Im blue in the face, and you know you shouldnt point fingers at our team, you should've looked around at the rest of the cars in that place. Some of them still had stock rims on.

^^^

damn right mandie...and *cough* best club award *cough*

everyone has their own opinions, some people love the fully done up sponsored cars, others like to see what people have done with their own $ and time.

to get the sponsors you gotta start somewhere....

Our show team epitomizes what our club is all about. TCC is about the love of your car no matter what stage you are at. From stock, to mildly modified, to heavily modified.

Politically in the Industry I know that damages our reputatuion, but I really don't care, the Industry fails to realize that is is the stock to mild that spends, and should be the target market. Instead they treat them like f***ing lepers.

What you say makes our club look weak to the "Industry", makes our club strong like family. Congrats to all our members who put their cars together for SCN, You are TCC.

Honestly guys, BEST JDM doesn't and shouldn't necessarily go to a RHD vehicle. Just because a car is imported from Japan, doesn't mean it automatically wins. I'd much rather see a LHD car with ALOT of JDM parts and theme win an award like that. It's more about the parts used, ie. quality, rareness, etc. and again... overall theme that should win that prize.

My friend won the JDM award and I don't see why he wouldn't have... work wheels, trial widebody kit (1 of 4 in the world, last kit to be ever produced), etc.

Also, the show was executed pretty good if you ask me... it was NOTHING like ImportFest. They did not park the cars in parking lot formation, they brought vendors out that probably wouldn't come to any other event, and lighting... go to an HIN event, it's even darker.

You're full of ****. They should have divided the JDM class into JDM OEM and JDM aftermarket. JDM means Japanese Domestic Market. Not some USDM car that approximates a JDM car because the bottom line is that it ISN'T JDM. Its a USDM car posing as one. I understand why Danny feels jipped.

And on your second point. I'm sorry man that our show team isn't full of people who deep pockets like yourself. But even still, that not what TCC is supposed to be. Like Michelle said it is suppose to a family or a community. We try welcoming all car fans not just ones that have the dough. I have just as much respect for someone like Mandie's car as well as Dhiren's car (one of the "stock" cars with rims). Why? Because they've chosen to come out, join us in our car club, and WITHIN their financial budget modded their car AND showcased it.

I don't think anyone cares that someone walked by and laughed (which I'm probably sure you did as well) because I personally wouldn't want you here. You just come across as self effacing *****. An elitist person who is about exclusion rather inclusion. That's not my kind of people.

And you want to talk about laughter? I'm sorry but your car in your sig (which i assume to be yours) is completely unorginal in term of its concept and styling. To me that's REALLY laughable and weak.

Unfortunately it is the nature of the beast in the tuner market, and j_limitz opinion is the norm in the "industry". Just remember the next person who writes "Is the show scene dying?", it is the supposed elite who come and go, but there will always be someone who makes a change to their car just because they want to.

Some sponsors are getting it I was talking to the rep at Shell, and his first question to me was "Is you club full of just tuners?". I said "Hell no, it is a community full of people who drive cars."

Trust me no one was laughing. There is a line up of people who want in on the T.C.C. right now, so I wouldn't worry about some peoples comments because jealousy is a mother f ucker. Oh and the Christmas lights car drove down like 5 hours to be with the club so I say let him do what he wants because it's his car.

i respect people modding their cars because that is what they like...but when you enter a show...it is a show to showcase the best of the best...you will get cars here and there that do not look like they belong...remember this is a business and from a business perspective you only want to have the best cars at your show...people pay to come see nice cars at a show and i'm pretty sure that they don't want to see stock cars with rims...if they wanted to see that they would go to a dealership...and vince is right...best jdm ain't about having just a rhd car...i could bring one in and say yo i should win cuz my car is rhd...parts, rarity of parts and the overall look make the car what it is...as for the remark about the jdm oem jdm aftermarket thing...what do you think everyone does? buy jdm parts and put it on their usdm cars...wtf else are they gonna do? they have those classes at HIN but not here...quality...period

and for a fact...i have a few major sponsors but as for the rest it still comes out of my pocket so none of that rich man poor man ****...please

Hey J ...opinions are like **** holes every has one. if you don't like the fact that we include all who want to be apart of things for the club then maybe we should just include people that we like on the board as well and ban all the people whose opinions we don't agree with. I am glad you have made your decision on what should and shouldn't be considered JDM... where would you like me to send your cookie. If their was no description on what is considered JDM then it is hard to make a statement for or against. Regarding our club, we chose to include people. Which might explain why people like yourself are still here posting on the board .....

Actually the guy with the Christmas lights drove 15 hours to come hang out and show with TCC thats what I call dedication! and J do you not think that b/c you have a sponsor thats why most of the stuff thats happened to your car only happened b/c someone else paid for it? Sure you may have spent some money on it, but where would it be if you didnt have those sponsors? Probably just some rims and and a stock car. You make it sound like its not cool if you just have rims, if you havent looked rims arent exactly cheap these days, nor are tires. And no one's calling the rich man poor man except for you.
