Hey you had a great showing at SCN, My club wouldn't even take their snows off for it and two guys paid and never showed.

My only beef is that Sponsored 50k cars should not be in competition with us. That is like going to the drags for bracket racing but instead they line you up against an alchol funny car and say lowest eta wins. well back off the line so I can save the gas!..... show was fairly well organized and you do have to go for enjoyment and just have fun.

I have the protege5 with the aluminum and white vynil. I was annoyed because two guys from montreal came with 50k show cars and took both trophys for protege class after I arranged with John to even get a protege class. Plus these two guys will be at SCN Montreal in 3 weeks and win there too, so what is my intrest in driving up? none...... eh well, do it for you and if they are the best "CAR" then lets see them drive it down the street and not get arrested.

I applaude those that came out, and so what if they wanted to use Christmas lights, thats what they wanted. Im sorry we dont have the funding to put up trusses and huge theatrical lighting, we dont need that sh*t to survive, we have our members and the support of the members. I like having all of the cars come out to shows, it shows that were a club about people, not the cars. Everyone has to start out somewhere, and if it means they bring their stock car into a show to get a taste of it and then they start modding so be it, but dont come in here and tell me that people were laughing at us, b/c I find it funny that if they were laughing how come so many new members signed up that day? and we have the respect of so many people out there? Hmmmm, maybe next show we can be un original like everyone else out there and have a DJ and some ugly girls sit on our hoods! Speedstar had and what looked like really expensive cars with different rims on them wow! You also have to remember the people who had these big booths have title sponsors behind them, no one in our booth have sponsors, this is our own money.

If you dont have anything nice to say, dont say it at all.

I will defend my team till Im blue in the face, and you know you shouldnt point fingers at our team, you should've looked around at the rest of the cars in that place. Some of them still had stock rims on.
what you said was very touchy... you made me feel more confident in joining the team next year and meet up with you guys when i have time... i really like your car too =)
i'm always afraid my car is just too stock and stuff..... but i want to be a proud civic owner and a proud tcc member too =)
hope to join you one day... i feel more confident now... and not as discouraged

and for a fact...i have a few major sponsors but as for the rest it still comes out of my pocket so none of that rich man poor man ****...please
You totally missed my point. Your too thick to realize what I meant.

Define JDM. Please go right ahead. If you want to say an S2000 with J's racing stuff is JDM, then I'll laugh in your face because it is no more than a USDM/CDM car with Japnese parts on it. You cannot change the fact that S2000 was never made for the Japnese Domestic Market. End of story. Danny's car isnt parts, neither were the Skylines that I beleive were there either.

The fact is. You can get JDM here in Canada, the car just has to 15 years old or older. That car that won was never JDM.

Lastly, the modification scence (I prefer not to use tuner) is NOT about the Acurabots, the Batmobile and cars of that ilk because for every one of you who has enough money to sink 20k-100k into their ride there are 100 if not 1000 more people who can't afford it or don't want to go to that extreme. Those people are what make the bread for your sponsors. They more than likley look at a midly done up car and say "yeah my car could be that" than rather say my car could be the Acurabot. Furthermore, all cars that were submitted at SCN were at some level pre-judged on their worthiness for the show, so take your "I came here to see tricked out cars" and shove it.

what is JDM?...the definition of JDM and best JDM is subjective and entirely up to the judges and show organizers.

Preshow registration screens applicants and if you made it through the process then your car deserves to be in that particular show.

The show categories where online months in advance and it should have been known to everyone that the wildest cars would be competing against the mildest.

everyone has their opinions on shows and alot of complaints...but recognize that shows take alot of preparation, investment and work.

The best cars were in the biggest booths. Why is that? Because the biggest booths want the nicest cars in their booth.

It is just a fact, Large companies take away from th epeople that keep the industry going in the first place. It is not the first time a big money corporation comes into something for the pure enthusiast and sweeps but it happens, personally I walk past those cars and look at the real ones.

I have more respect for a person who restores a cuda instead of buying a chip foose hot rod. No thought from the owner involved. It is what it is. Don't go to win, but at the same time, shows need to take the time and effort to recognize the non-sponsored cars since we are the ones that make this industry happen. If it was just show cars, there would be no shows. The guys and girls like us who work hard for the money to mod need some kind of recognition. Maybe a sponosred and unsponsered category.

My idea was: Non-sponsored gets best protege and best civic or best Integra. Sponsored cars go for best paint, best Honda or best in show. SIDE NOTE: I think they used JDM just to mean best japanese car. They are all from Montreal and a little gets lost in translation.

Bring your car to Montreal for SCP then, they split the classes into STREET and ELITE (Judged by NCCA). Shows aren't always fair and that's just something you have to accept.

Being in a major company's booth is considered an honour, everyone had to start somewhere. Yes, there are obviously the few guys who have connections from the get-go and build cars purely on sponsors, but that usually means they built relationships with companies over time, with a previous vehicle, and have proven themselves as high quality car builders. Everyone had to start somewhere...

This industry keeps going based on people who build good cars, strive for sponsorship, and continue to better their cars. If you don't win, who cares... you built your car for fun anyways right? You shouldn't need a trophy to proove how much work you put into your car.

It seems like we are hating on sponsors, we are not really. Everyone here would be happy to have them I'm sure.

Its just that when a real person actually looks for one to help ease the burden of their commitment to their car, they usually fall prey to the false ones like carsponsorships, and the like. They do not have the connections hence they attend these shows to make them.

You got one thing right. Shows are not fair. You have to play to the industry in order to win. Very few shows elect winners based on the merit of the car itself. A lot of it is politics, impression and the like.

If you don't win who cares? Yeah right. Anyone who has a modded car, at some level wants the recognition for what they've worked for. If it is something as little as someone saying "nice ride" all the way up to the best of show, we all look for that appreciation of what we've worked for. For you to say or anyone else to say otherwise, is complete bull****.

Thirdly, the industry keeps going based on people who build good cars? Ha. I would think the "good" cars have sponsorships and companys are losing money on the "good cars." Blaupunkt doesnt make make on Acurabot itself. They get money from the kid walking into a store and buying their product.

But anyhow, the topic has been beaten to death. I'm gonna stop here unless someone says something totally out there.
