rear ended someone... :(
so this morning im on my way to work driving to the go station, everything's fine and dandy right......wrong...... i'm going and the car in front of me is far ahead, i'm not speeding or anything......all of a sudden she brakes so i brake but then she all of a sudden comes to a complete stop
so then i put my brakes on and when i noticed she stopped completely i pressed the brakes harder, next thing u know my wheels locked and kept sliding for a good 3 seconds and then boom.......
i just dunno, i wasn't tailgaiting, i was far back, i wasn't speeding..... could have been my tires possibly......they look a little low on tread in the rear....all seasons....... first accident that was my fault, i mean she braked sooo late all of a sudden, but since it was from behind it's automatically my fault......

I don't know guy, if you were far apart and I suspect that it wasn't in a zone where you were going fast, you should have had enough distance to stop before hitting her, unless you broke too late when she suddenly stopped and hit her.
As for you being at fault, yep, pretty much.

yeah i was further, but I braked too hard too late when i realized how hard and late she had braked.....
My front bumper is destroyed and my hood got pushed a little in so it won't open, no frame damage or anything at all, her bumper didn't budge, it's didn't even look like her car was touched at first, but looking more closely there's a small hole from my licence plate bolt and a minor crack in the middle......
how badly would this reflect on my premium if she were to file a claim?? I asked her about settling outside insurance but she wanted to speak with her husband first, so i'm gonna call her tonight and ask her again........

Depending on your insurance, most of them allow one claim or accident before your rates go up. If a claim is going through, I would just check with them as it has to be reported anyways. Unless you are working it out with the other party to pay for her damages as well as yours, then you have nothing to worry about.

It’s not your distance or speed that you kept, it’s your defensive driving that is weak, which caused this. You should always step on the breaks when the car in front of you breaks, if the car in front breaks or taps on them you should do the same, especially in moving traffic. That is how you keep CONTINUING equal distance.
This is what you did, ohh I have distance and im going slow so im good, well the car in front of you is no different from a wall, I guess a moving wall, if you tried to keep the speed in order with the vehicle in front of you, you would not have hit it, it just goes to show that this is true, if there was a car behind you why didn’t it ram into you? right.
Also always look through the car in front of you if you can see through its windows.
Its okay, you will learn from this, I hope, and become a better alert driver.Just have to wait and pay the higher premmium for 6 years like me.lol
but yea try to settle it in person if its not that big 100% its probably more than $600. hmm but yea fingolfin then whats the point of insurance eh? is it not illegal what you are suggesting, is it not a waist to have insurance and not use it.lol

dont go through your insurance, it doesnt seem like a big accident and you may as well pay for it . If you go through your insurance its a 6 years penalty in your record so at the end you will end up paying 3 or 4 if not more what you could of pay at once.
**** like this happens , you just have to be more carefull from now on to avoid this type of accidents

ahhh yeah i always do that, judge the speed of the car in front and everything i just dunno what happened this time, and yeah i normally do all those things u said as well..... I like to drive safe and am finicky on those things and i always criticize those ricers and other tards on the road, but this morning I became the tard and paid the price.......
I just pray to god that she doesn't file a claim, but in the back of mind she already did.......

The few times were I really wanna rear end someone I find myself in my moms car which I value with my life. I honestly wish someone would cut me off or slam on the brakes or something when I'm in my truck, I'd LOVE to rear end them, good ol' push bar.

Like Brian said, make sure both of you are on the same page. If she files, you file and leave everything to insurance. Hopefully, first time forgiveness and be careful next time.
If no insurance, get a quote and pay for her damage. Bumper repair and repaint can go easily to 300 dollars, and if body shops claims the rebar needs replacement, you are looking at close to 800 dollars. Remember, as much as you want to save money, she has the right to a second opinion. Whether you pay less or more at the end of the day, ALWAYS pay directly to the body shop and write an AGREEMENT, indicating that so and so hit so and so on this day and both parties agree not to file insurance. Sign and date on TWO copies. You keep the body shop receipt and make her a copy.
This way, she will not make a penny off of this accident.
Good luck
