Question about selling my EK

hey guys i need some advice or suggestions...

i have a clean 98' Si coupe thats im thinking about selling and i also have a B16 SiR engine/ tranny ECU with under 80km on it not installed...

my question is; would it be a better idea to install the engine in my car to sell it? what kind of profit would i get out of it? should i sell the complete engine seperate? how should i do this to get more overall money out of it?

a question about installing the B16 if i decide to go that route; what parts do i need for the install if i have the engine/tranny/ECU... (different mounts, axles, etc???) how much do you think it will all come to? is it worth it?

i will try to add pictures but im not completely sure how to... i have offers for the car at $8500 but i wouldnt mind maybe a bit more since i know the history of the car and how it runs...
here are the features of my car...

You will lose more money if you sell everything together. Labour and extra parts could go close to 1000 (including contingency). Meanwhile, people always look for a package deal (i.e. if the car is 6000 and engine is 1500, they gonna offer you 7000 rather than 7500).

Sell them separately, save you time, money and hassle to install.

Mods don't necessarily increase a cars value either. If you still have the original parts, I would try to return it as closely to stock as possible. It will appeal to a broader range of buyers and you might make some extra cash from the parts that you can sell.

I wouldn't pay $8500 for the car you have listed. For that kind of money, a low K 99-00 Si could be purchased. Oh, I got $5500 for my bone stock 98 Si 2 years ago.

If the 8500 is sans B16, then I would take that offer while it lasts.

I agree with everyone's comments above. If someone is offering you $8500 for it, I'd say TAKE IT. That is an awesome price for that car including all the modifications.

I sold my '97 Hatch two months ago with almost as many mods as yours, except no Z3 fenders, shaved handles, no engine mods, and no lowering springs for $6K. The car had 175K kms on it and absolutely no rust.

i don't want to pinpoint what kind of mods on this car is bad, because what doesn't appeal to me might appeal to you

the issue with selling modified cars is... everyone's taste are different. if someone has same taste as you and wants a car, you should get a pretty good price, say 6000 car alone or 8000 with engine.

if you can't find someone with same taste as you. a modified car would only kill you even more in terms of market value. if i were to buy your car, i would pay around 4000-4200 tops because most EKs go for the 5000-5500 range nowdays and some of the mods on your car hurt my interest, so if the price doesn't look attractive to me, i wouldn't bother on it.

coles note: if you find someone similar taste as you, value goes up above the avg price, if you can't find somesome similar taste as you, value goes down below the avg price. and avg price is when your car is bone stock which makes it appeal to the whole market (from youngster to elders)

Thanks everyone for your input... dont worry i take critism well, as long as your being truthful then i appreciate the suggestions.

as for the comments... what aftermarket parts do you think i should remove to make it more apprealing to the majority of the ppl looking for a car like mine?
i have realized that my asking price is a bit high so ive decided that add in the b16, tanny and ecu for $8500...
basically i really want to buy a used honda cbr600rr, i was going to wait til next year but im kinda itchin for one this year... so with the money i would sell my car for i would buy a beater thats decent for about $4500 and take the rest ($4000) and put it towards a bike... so if anyone is willing to trade for a EG or EK coupe or hatch and cash then thats what im aiming for.
thanks again for everyones input and i will be back and forth to this page to take more of your comments in consideration...

i forgot to mention, i dont know if this makes a difference in price, but i do live in a small town about an hour away from Toronto so its not city driven and it never was from previous owners which i know adds alot more on the lifespan of the car. i do know when i was looking at cars i wasnt looking in the city for the reason alone... i dont know if that makes a difference in the buyer, just basically more or less peace of mind that the clutch and tranny are not as beaten with stop and go traffic.

Gord.
