Pending Hybrid Vehicle Purchase..

i'd take a golf tdi myself.......as bruno has mentioned they're not the most sound vehicles based on reliability -- but from having owned a few vw's i don't mind the small issues i've had.
the hybrid cars kinda don't feel strong enough to me -- and who knows how much the batteries will cost when you need to replace them

batteries wise, i remember reading in a consumers report that the batteries for the Toyota Prius being around $2000-2500. but the price will decrease in the future. there life span is around 10 years, and i could have swore the warranty on the battery was pretty good.

fookin ****** some more lies why don'tcha?
1000 kms is not unreasonable to expect though... keeping in mind of course that the tank is 55 or 60 liters. Takes about $37+ to fill it up. So really it's not that great, but it IS pretty good. If you can put up with small annoyances, then OK. Just don't get a Jetta or Beetle. They are mexican built, and the Beetle is very hard to work on due to it's style. But the Golf is okay... Some common issues... the timing belt is to be done every 90,000 kms, and costs $500+. Each glow plug is $85. Coolant migration is a very serious problem and I've seen it cost a guy $12,000 (after 20,000 miles - so it was under warranty) for a complete harness and ECU replacement. The alarm often screws up b/c the microswitches in the latch mess up. That means random honking while driving, or you leave the car open overnight sometimes. Replacement keys are $400. The window regulators often fail. Turbo seals often fail, dumping oil into the intake tract, often hydrolocking the motors. Many start-issues... hard starts, smoke on starting.... etc. Glow plug harnesses often melt and cause a CEL (or MIL as it's known with dubbers). Then... what else... oh yeah, the Bosch MAP sensor is almost guaranteed to fail in 60,000 kms. I replaced it with a Mercedes Benz MAP sensor. It's held up so far. Oh, and it has an aluminium oil pan and VERY low clearance. It comes with a ghay plastic skidplate which can be replaced with a dieselgeek metal skidplate. Many guys do this. There are even some guys who put 2 inch lift kits on their TDIs. Check out Fred's TDI page if you get a chance. tdiclub.com I think it is.

1400 must be all highway driving with a horseshoe up his *** I went to Virginia, 12 hours straight on one tank, it was bone dry when I got there though.
Today in my Saturn, I swear I could watch the needle drop. I did a 1/2 tank in 1 hour. Sumtin is wrong They're supposed to get almost 40 mpg...
