Oil leak???
I have a 2000 ek 4 door. a couple nights ago i was driving and the engine started pinging and banging. Pulled over and checked all of the fluids and noticed that the oil was just at the base of the dip stick. So i went and bought a couple liters of oil and filled it. Checked it again the next day, level was fine but the next day, i was below the half mark. So i filled it up again.
I have checked all around the engine bay and below the car and there is no oil leaking outside the case. Checked the radiator fluid and it's clear and checked the tranny fluid and it was still clear and pink.
Not showing any smoke while running or accelerating.
Any suggestions?

Take it to the mechanic, most likely the oil pan gasket is cracked.
If your oil is getting less every time, either its burning, which doesn't have to show smoke in the early stages or you have an internal leak in the head (cracked head)

From what i understand, the dip stick doesn't go right to the bottom of the case. As soon as i re-filled the oil, the engine was running perfectly fine. no pinging or banging.
I do alot of driving for work, about 26000 a year. (that's not all work). But i still don't understand why i would be loosing so much oil and not seeing it, either leaking on the floor or smoke coming out the exhaust.

Let off the gas a bit, I remember with the prelude, I would always have to add a bit of oil when I kept going into vtec because vtec tends to send more oil into the crankcase recirculating tube and it gets burned in the engine.
