The engine is likely de-tuned to some extent (ie. lower compression) in the Corolla.

Too many driving schools use Corollas.

I'd prefer the Matrix.

Some one else said that the engine was somehwat de-tuned, but there also may be a different exhaust system (ie. more restrictive one) on it too?? That could account for some hp loss.

Yes, probably right. Because it's physically the exact same engine they put in the matrix XRS. My dad works for TMMC, and says they arent making a seperate engine for the corolla, physically the same as Matrix XRS.

Don't be over 6' tall though you're knees will be stuck at 90 degrees.

The pedals are WAY to close.

I think that the Corolla Sport Edition just came with the regular 130hp engine. The Corolla XRS has the Matrix/Celica engine, but is somewhat detuned to 170hp.

my opinion is corolla is not a bad car but more torque on this engine will make a good competion to Sentra Se-R
