Summary:
- 1.8-liter four-cylinder DOHC engine that produces 170 horsepower and 127 pounds of torque.
- Same engine found in Celica GT-S and Corolla Matrix XRS 6-speed.
- The XRS features a sport-tuned suspension that includes a front connecting rod damper developed by Yamaha.
- XRS features increased rate coil springs and shocks on all four wheels for improved roll and pitch, and a ride height that is lower by a full half-inch.

You guys just talk height, you have to remmeber this is a stock car. Much like the civic, its not going to be "slamed" from the factory. Its a good base to work with, some minor mods and I think it'll be pretty good.

I am not a fan of that look, but I do love the old models, AE86 for instance.

I like the headlights and the rims... it actually makes the car bearable to look at. :p

Just like the SE model of the Camry... the different headlights make it look SO much better!

Insurance should be cheaper than an SiR though, afterall its a "family" car...

Remind yourself...AE86, AE92, AE101 also coming from the Corolla root. its Chassis is pretty solid...
it is just the drivers here that create such "weak" image for Corolla! :p

i think it's a pretty decent car to begin with.
now if the price were right for the xrs and like someone above said with insurance being lower, i think it's a pretty good contender.

it's nice looking, but I'm also concerned about the ride height. I have a dropped Civic and a dropped Saturn. The layout of the Saturn susp is very similar to most toyotas... and I have to admit, though it handles well, it RIDES like ****, and it's only on Eibach Pros and KYB shocks. I attribute this to the MacPhearson susp. A car should come from the factory IMO with 6+ inches of susp travel, not 4. I admit it CAN LOOK good, I don't think it will be able to both LOOK and PERFORM at the same time. Either one or the other. And the torque is barely significant in this car. It's kinda like a family man's RSX Type S. But it has hardcore competition to deal with - MazdaSpeed Protege, Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V, Ford Focus SVT, Mazda 6, RSX type S, and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few... OH yes, SRT-4!! Vrooom!

I've never been a fan of the current gen Corolla's styling, but I must admit the addition of the 2ZZ-FE motor is definitely nice. :thumbup:

That's exactly what it is :) It's replacing the "S", which is a good thing because I personally hated the term "S".

Also, since it's getting the same engine as the Celica GTS and Matrix XRS, why is it rated at 170 rather than 180HP? Its the exact same engine.
