How does one remove the headlamps on an EK civic? I see two obvious top bolts, but they seem to be held else where. What needs to be removed to access the other bolts, and where are these bolts?

I wish the search function still worked on this site.

If I remember correctly from my old 98, the bumper needs to be removed and there are 2 more botls underneath securing the headlight.

how do you remove the front bumper then? where are the clips and screws located? sorry about all the newbie type questions.

The bumper is help on by a Philips screw located on each side just inside the fenders, right where the bumper and fender meet. There are also 3 or 4 10mm bolts under the bumper. The grill also needs to be removed, but it is only held on by a few plastic plugs along the top edge.

there are actually only two 10mm's on the bottom Mike. With the bumper off theres two bolts on each side of the light.

But do you want to just change a bulb or are you swpaping lights?

LOL, its been awhile. I still havent attempted to remove anything from the new car. To change a bulb in an 06-07, you have to pull back the fender liner and jam your hand into this tiny hold behind the bulb. Its a huge PITA.

ya one thing honda did wrong was designing their headlamps.. even my 91 you have to take the bumper off.

be careful when undoing the bolts that are attached to ur fender...if they are seized u can easily ruin ur fender mount.

to sum it all up....follow this

1. Take off the screw that go through the bumper into the fender on each side of the car (its in the wheel well...remove the liner if its in the way)
2. Take off the plastic screw tabs off the front grille
3. From underneath the car, take off two 10mm bolts. You might have to take off two screws around the same location (these secure the splash shields)
4. Pull the bumper out and towards you

Once the bumper is off....the head lights are secured by four bolts (two on top and one on each side) but before you go on the headlights....unplug the harness for the bulbs and the rubber cap.
