How do you avoid traffic in GTA?

I usually go from dufferin and steeles straight to about Finch and the 427.
Instead of the 401, i just get up steeles. 10-15 minutes on steeles and Im home.
Thats the only one I can think of really.

lol @ the infant strapped to the back.
map out different ways to get to the destination with and without highway use. then get a cb radio and before getting on the highway ask truckers how is the highway moving. lol i do that all the time. before getting on hwy400 south i ask how its moving, if slow than its quicker to take streets around.

DVP is always a disaster too. for traffic, there are a couple of general rules for me... do the driving in the morning 9:30-2 PM or night after 7:30. avoid major roads that connect to the 401 or other highways. never take bloor anywhere. if driving on spadina, never take the right lane. there are always retarded asians parked in that lane with their hazards on. walk anywhere that's within 1 hr walking distance, it's about the same time it'll take you to drive there (outside of my 'rules'). so in rush hour traffic heading to say younge and queen, walking would take the same time as driving. if you're on a schedule, take the subway or streetcar. subway is better than street car. to connect north-south, I usually take jane or... dufferin? is that the one that goes to yorkdale? to connect east-west, i take the gardiner, but only outside of rush hour. in rush hour, i go dupont or st clair.
