PFFFFFFFFFFFT they need to expand the damn highways .. ppl just refuse to use public transit .. adding more transit wont convert ppl ..
my idea is this ... build a tunnel under the 401 ... with go stops ... so the only time you can exit is when you get to Pickering/Scarborough/Yorkdale/Sauga type deal ...
less ppl merging on to the hwy = LESS TRAFFIC PERIOD

public transportation is for people with suspended licenses and people who can't afford to drive.
2 categories of people i don't care about.
i'd rather they put some bicycle lanes like they promised

people can't afford to own a car
people can, but don't want to
people who own cars take public transit just because of preference
and lastly there are lots of people who just want to help out with environmental concerns.
there are tons of reason that people take public transit. no one is 'too good' for public transit, and if you truly think you are. you have a problem.
and as for bruce fee, after reading many of your comments such as your recent comments in that muslim thread, i no longer take anything you say seriously

man have any of you been to london?
you can get to downtown london easily from anywhere 1 - 1.5hrs out of the city because of their great transity system and people do use it
toronto does need something like that because the GTA isn't going to do anything but grow
you can only expand a highway so much until you run out of room and doing so would be a waste of valuable time and money
transit is the future.

london england's public transportation is amazing!!!! the european cities I went to in general had very good public transport. I assume we can't have anything like that here. Just the fact everywhere but London used the honour system (we bought each time as well) was great. Reduces hassle.
People seemed to be more civilized over there. Drinking on the subway is legal, but you see less bottes around the stations downtown.

the real problem with GTA transit is crappy service off hours.
seriously the last Subway run is before last call. thats stupid... and then they move to the blue line routes and most routes don't have 24 hours service so it takes forever.. and buses are stupid takes forever to get to where I have to go becuase the driver has to stop for everyone else. I'd say we need to get rid of 80% of the bus stops .. that way the busses will move faster.
also the next problem with GTA transit is I can't leave the city .. I can't go to cottage country or even across the GTA with some reasonable time...
if I drive in 1.5 hours I can be up in cottage country ... if I take transit I can barely make it across the city

environmental concerns are definitely a reason to take the bus.
sure they spew out pollution, but sure as hell is better to have one bus rather than numerous cars. i think they have a capacity of about 75 people or so.
most cars during rush hour only have one occupant, and most buses are pretty much packed.

Environmental concerns my *** Harsh. No matter how clean those buses are supposed to be, they put out so much damn pollution (you can see and smell it spewing out of the exhaust pipes) You are just trying to disturb the **** disturbers. If public transit was catered to people that couldnt afford a car, the rates would not be increasing on what seems like a yearly basis.

I'm not sure how much a metro pass is these days but let's say it's $100/month.
Are you telling me that $1200/year isn't a ****load cheaper then owning a car and paying for gas/insurance?
mmmmmm k
As for the pollution, what's worse? A bus load of people or each one of them driving their own vehicle to and from work?
And on top of that, who says buses have to pollute a lot? The TTC can start using natural gas buses like they do in Hamilton.

London England is easy to travel because they create a toll system if you want to drive in the city center. I love the idea. taxi's are cheap as hell even when you convert the pound to cad dollar, they common in the center same with buses to encourage people to use public trans. I went on a 3 hour bus ride to london and it was 5 bounds which equals 15 dollars roughly... that is cheap.
the problem with toronto is to many people think they are "to good for public trans"
That has got to be one of the most selfish and stupid things I have heard this week since bryant spoke on street racing.

public transport sucks.
you have to wait for the bus
you have to walk a certain amount
some people smell - really bad
you can't relax and put your legs out
you can't listen to your music
you have to listen to stupid conversations
the bus is constantly stopping
you can't have a cigarette
you can't store stuff in a trunk
you don't have any travel flexibility without significant delays - ie you see basmati rice on sale and want to grab some on your way home
you can't control heat and A/C
you can't fart without people looking at you rudely
if you want to help the environment, shut up and go plant a tree

^ your the one biatching about what you cant do, I think you should suck it up! Muffin, you cant fart or smoke. About 90 percent of the population could give 2 ****s about those excuses. I commute because its cheaper and the environment is just an added positive.
By your postings you seems to be a very selfish person. There is also alternatives other than the loser cruiser but since thats just what your looking at I guess everyone else agrees with you!
