Ford's Next POS

Even though I like the way the Flex looks, I don' think it will do well in today's market, and I think this is Sal's point too. If this would've been a hybrid crossover, it probably would've been more appealing considering today's high gas prices.
I am afraid this car will have the same fate as the Ford 500 and Taurus X, both of which were conceptually great cars, but either marketed inappropriately or launched at the wrong time. That's too bad, because I look at the list of features, and this thing is loaded.

most ppl who buy trucks don't actually use them as trucks. that's why the ridgeline can take market share away from the f150 - but it'll never replace it.
for the record, the f150 is the best selling vehicle of all time. that is to say, more f150s have hit the pavement over the years than any other model out there.
"Over 33 million examples have been sold, making it the best selling vehicle of all time. It's been the best selling truck in America for 30 years, and for 26 of those years was the best selling vehicle overall. "

nothing is in place...its cheap inside out...the suspension is wobbly wtf....the brake handle feels like a hammer rod, seat height adjustment controls feel like hard rubber....immense body roll while turning. trunk is so hard to pull open even though its remote release.
tranny is smooth and the car pulls decently though beyond 3K.
overall not impressed. cant wait to get my si back.

also, top gear made the same claim when they tested the f150 lightning a few seasons back. in any case, it's pretty close esp considering the broad appeal of a sedan (corolla) compared to a truck.
nevertheless, the truck/suv party is finally coming to an end it appears. truck and suv sales are down thanks to the rising cost of gasoline.
In response, GM said Monday it will further cut production of trucks and SUVs through the end of this year. Spokesman Chris Lee says GM will cut shifts, reduce assembly line speeds and temporarily idle seven factories because of declining consumer demand for the truck-based vehicles.
The biggest cut will take place at the company's Janesville, Wis., factory that makes large SUVs. It will be idled the weeks of July 14 and 21, plus it will be shut down another 10 weeks through the end of the year.
Lee said Monday the other affected plants are in Oshawa, Ontario; Silao, Mexico; Arlington, Texas; Moraine, Ohio; Fort Wayne, Ind.; and Shreveport, La.
The move comes on top of GM's announcement earlier this month that it will close four North American plants by 2010 because of poor truck and SUV sales, costing 8,350 jobs.
