Post !! Driving a Motor Vehicle Without a Currently Validated Permit !!

Last Thursday evening (Jan 10th) 11:50PM, West GTA (Finch & Albion)

Driving a carpool friend back to her home in North Etobicoke after an evening Bible study at church.
Lights, siren...pulled over for an expired license plate sticker 2 houses from her driveway.

Bought the car in April07, new plates were issued, sticker reads Nov07 (not my birth month). I understand -plain & simple- that it's the owner's responsibility to keep plate stickers current. Absent-mindedly, however, I must have been thinking 'new used car purchase, brand new plates, hmm.. must have a new sticker, I'm good to go.'

The rude bastard ***** of a cop & his side kick ask for the usual L-O-R but yell at us & ****** items out of my hands. Despite being well-dressed & driving a clean, fully stock vehicle; for me, it was the wrong part of town to be in at the right time.

So my plea for advice is this: I took my immediately available next opportunity to renew in-person at my local vehicle license issuing office: Yesterday morning (Saturday, Jan 12th) & paid in full for 2 yrs coverage ($148.00). What's the likelihood of having the charges withdrawn by a JoP if I present all of these factors, along with a photocopy of the very poorly written (ie: illegible) Offence Notice while 'pleading guilty with an explanation'...?

Incidentally, while riding with a friend in that same area the next day, a traffic tickets specialist in his company vehicle stops at the red light in the lane next to us. I motion to him & describe the situation in 15 seconds, he advises me to take it to court with validation (documentation for renewed plate sticker) & it will be 'thrown out'.

I know this is minor league; but, I make the utmost effort to keep my record clean. That way each withdrawn charge / nullified ticket is, essentially my first, so it's important to me. It's important for my j-o-b.

Any ideas, or thoughts to contribute? Thanks in advance...

-Troub.

Yes wtf, ^^^ like the rest said it.

Anyways don't **** your pants, its easy as hell, getting ticket for tags is BS, all you do is get them renewed go to court and show them the renewed sticker on the plate or just the copy you get with the sticker on it, lol

its so easy the person that sits there and conducts the process will help you out, just tell them I got them renewed and he/she will say, okay, we'll withdraw this ticket i.e. rectified "no conviction" no ticket and no payment of fine.

these are the best tickets to get if you do get pulled over because 99% a cop will not pull you over if he's not about to give you a ticket, I know because I have been pulled over so many times, I could make money off advising tickets.lol

Anyways tickets such as tags, broken light, improper muffler, anything that can be renewed or fixed with a proof of receipt, 100% you will have it withdrawn from the court. Things like speeding tickets, accidents and ish that can't be fixed, you get fuked on those.

ALWAYS go to court you are guaranteed to get 15km to 20km off any speeding ticket you had and save your points. people don't do this but if you get a speeding ticket for 70km in a 60km or 75km in a 60kmh or even a 65kmh in 60 go to the court most likely the ticket gets withdrawn, any where until 15kmh you can get the whole ticket taken care off.

This rule doesn’t apply for the hwy’s anymore, because of the 50km bill, now most cops won’t pull you over for 15km or 20km over i.e. 100km to 120kmh, but anything over and you will get the ticket that shows 130kmh, so when you go to court, that number is already over the 15km or 20kmh so no one can help you, neither can that ticket be fully thrown out, plus the judge will have a hole when they see that.

So Fantino is trying to come up the 30kmh over bill where the cops can impound the car and all instead of 50 over, this way on the hwy they will be handing out tickets out they ***, making millions and reducing traffic as well as normal people from the robots who will do anything to be slaves.Aso because it will be easier for them to catch someone doing 130km then waiting forsomeone to hit 120km,130km,140km,150km,160km, and then try to cath them.

Hi,

Actually, I was referring to myself when attributing responsibility for keeping the plate stickers up-to-date.
I'm the principal driver, but the vehicle is listed under a parent's business name (that's why the renewal month is not my birth month).

* * *

Charge is $85 ... $110 payable ("""admin""" fees). No points involved.

* * *

You make a few good points ForSale, & I know what you're saying... When I was booked for an improper muffler in '05 with my Gen1, I simply bought a silencer, took before & after installation photos, and presented the receipt for the purchase to the JP & the charges were withdrawn immediately.

* * *

'Preciate ya chimin' in fellaz, I believe the best option is to visit the assigned court house & contest the charge (rather than pleading guilty outright, thereby compromising my chances for a withdrawal in the near future).

Thanks guys. Any other contributions are welcome, of course...

i was in the same situation once, where my friends temp license had expired the day before...because it was my friends car, i never recieved a fine except for the speeding ticket in which we were pulled over for...they towed the car and that was it

no matter what, your fine should be thrown out as long as you have proof of your renewed plates

there is no "admin" fee. its called victim surcharge. every ticket issued in ontario gets charged this. this money goes towards victims of road related disasters.

nice, didn't know that.

so the cops actually sit in their car and tally up the taxes on a ticket on a calculator for a ticket, you know how when we get a ticket, it says lets say $56, then further down on the yellow slip it says $75 after taxes or something is that this same thing admid fee or is that a separate court topic?

tickets can not be taxed as the ticket itself is a form of tax.
basically its 10 or 15 percent of the total amount issued. however if you charge is more than i believe 1000 you can excempt the victim surcharge if you can provide a proper reason as to why you paying that fee can criple your financial status.

Yeah, I'm curious on that too actually...what's this "admin" fee part of? What's being "administered"?
