Do affiliates really offer you a deal?

i think that the whole idea of being a paid member is to show your loyalty to the TCC community...which obviously include the affiliates. Having said that, it is valid to expect that as a paid member, you get a special price.
Relationship building is natural..whether you are a paid member or not a paid member. Does that mean you have to buy X number of items at the store before you get a good deal?
If its totally upto the affiliate's discretion to offer a paid member a preferred price or not..then it doesnt make sense.

The paid memebership is definitely worth it alone for the parkway honda discount. Other then that, you can get whatever else you need for much less elsewhere (from my experience). If you buy in volume or you know the person it's only natural that the shop would give you a discount. I know a guy that is one of the affialiates and he probably charges me less then "member pricing" because I know him and I know he gives me a good price always without me having to haggle or anything.

Here's my take on things....
The TCC Forum obviously represents a large group of consumers with a very specific orientation. This is an audience that affiliates would see as being receptive to the products they have to offer.
The products I sell service the needs of this community, but go well beyond Civics in terms of applications. For me, being here represents an investment in the future of my business. I am here to make friends and contacts, and in an indirect way lead my business in profitable directions. For instance, if you are a happy customer of mine, I hope you'll recommend myself and Amsoil to your friends. Maybe you know somebody who is a mechanic, or owns a shop, and maybe you'll suggest to them that they should carry Amsoil.
Do I make money by being here? .... NOPE .... I sell to TCC Forum "users", not just members at Dealer Cost. This is my cost ... what I pay for the product, and make "zero" direct profit. Amsoil does have a commission structure, based on volume, and if you buy a case of oil from me I'll make $2.00. That's right, TWO dollars. But if I can be helpful to this community and expand my customer base, I'm happy. I pay a monthly fee to be here, and unless I'm selling at least 30 cases of oil per month to you guys (and we're not even close), I'm not recovering my costs. Like I said, it's an investment, partly in my business, but also in your forum communtiy.
I do hope that TCC Forum users and members will support their affiliates. The financial support of affiliates does, I'm sure, go a long way to support the costs of running the forum, helping to give you this great space for your community. Nothing is more annoying for me personally than someone using me for product and technical information, and then just running out to Canadian Tire to buy their Amsoil. It's a downer to say the least.
Shop around. You won't find any source of Amsoil cheaper than what I offer my customers.
Cheers
Cam

^ Sorry Cam, I overlooked you. I know for a fact that your prices for AMSOIL products are pretty much the lowest I can find.

The Affiliates are business and their point is to make a profit. Sometimes I've received great deals, other times not. Even the highest prices I've received quotes from TCC's Affiliates are still much cheaper then any shop in my area.
One are aI've found the Affiliates to be very cheap is in labour. The shops and mechanics that are Affiliates are MUCH cheaper then your avaerage mechanic.
If you can find a better deal then take it. No one is forcing anyone to buy from the Affiliates. Being a paid member is worth more then the pricing from the Affilites. Just the deals from Parkway are worth the membership cost.

I got a mechanic that i know pretty well and he charges me next to nothing for labour. He's certified and is one of the better mechanics I know. Doug at leading edge also does great work for a great price.
I don't mind paying more for good work, but when you can pay less for the same work, why not?
