Do affiliates really offer you a deal?

I always believed that they do. I havent shopped at many but recently i had the opportunity to get some quotes from atleast 3-4 of them and was surprised to see that not only their quotes differed dramatically from each other...but were also extremely high in some cases.

Now im not comparing anyone with ebay or any other online retailer..which can offer to sell cheap for obvious reasons.

For a set of KYB AGX shocks...i got one quote at $800 tax incl.
For the AEM CAI...$350 tax included.

I know that Parkway Honda has a dedicated discount policy and usually you see their price discounts. I usually go through the group buy section and most of the times...the prices are just at par with the retail market.

I dont know...should we expect the affiliates to offer deals that are better than retail? Would What do you guys think? Would love to know your experience?

sometimes they do and sometimes they dont...and generally in automotive parts there is no "real" retail price...I work in autoparts and believe me some people sell for a loss well other people sell for profit (thats how a business should be run)...anyways, 800bucks is a rip off for those shocks, u can get tokicko illumina or koni yellows for 680 give or take all in...i've been quoted that by affiliates and local shops

imported_SilverSleeper 27-Jun-2006 10:17 PM

It is up to the "affiliate" to decide whether they give special pricing to the members of a car club. The term of affiliate is a way for TCC to say these are trusted shops that we should go to. It doesn't not inherently mean that there will be cheaper prices but it does mean (should mean) that the service from these affiliates will be top notch. Price doesn't always dictate the sale, at least not in my case.

However I have noted that some of our more prominent affiliates offer heavy discounts as well, so I would turn your attention to those ones to purchase your parts. Parkway does carry some aftermarket parts and tires23.ca has good prices as well. I would turn to them in your search for parts or keep your eyes peeled in the classifieds.

you just gotta keep on going back to the affiliate and know the owners.

I get pretty good deal at some affiliates.. and at others they don't really seem to care that i'm from tcc.

Xscorpio 27-Jun-2006 10:52 PM

i just stick to 4-5 affiliates and when ever i need somehting i get it from them.

SS - for audio
option for hood, exterior, performance other jdm stuff etc
teknotic for motors other jdm stuff
TR(Jay) for installing stuff and working on the car etc
precision for rim repair
park way for oem parts etc

these are the affiliates i have dealt with so far and have nothing but good things to say.
great costomer service, good deals, good prices and very honest ppl to deal with.

Jay P 27-Jun-2006 11:23 PM

it depends where you go... a little leg work goes a long way.

+ building positive relatinships with the shops you deal with

markpa 27-Jun-2006 11:45 PM

SHops are in it to make money remember that....To answer your question, no i dont think the affilates give u better deals, thats why Im not a registerd tcc member.

civicnation 27-Jun-2006 11:49 PM

Im not ragging on the affiliates, but whenever i inquired about any parts, the affiliates offered me the highest price when i compared similar shops. Im not a paid memeber and i do not expect the same deal as the people who are paid member,s but i didnt expect the prices to be the highest when compared to other shops.

imported_kungfugrip 27-Jun-2006 11:56 PM

ive called places before i was a paid member.. and now i am a paid member and their prices remain firm... i couldnt even get an extra $50 off a CF hood i wanted.. and i was told that if i was a paid member ill get it cheaper... but still the same price.. i get better discounts anyways then most of the affiliates.. but the membership is good if its something that i cant get a hold of

selective sound 28-Jun-2006 12:45 AM

I guess it depends on who it is, I know I give paid members discounts and I give show team members even bigger discounts.

yea pretty much... "yea yea ill be an affilitate..." its like.. using TCC as advertisement and when u actually go there and show ur card they dont give a ****.. "that is member price already"

uh huh..

imported_Moe_Mentum 28-Jun-2006 10:45 AM

I would agree, most affiliates I have been to don't really treat paid members any differently then non paid members as far as service or pricing. When I had originally signed up for the Club I was expecting a set discount from all affiliates. However, I find once you build a good relationship with any affiliate you'll get a good price, especially for labour. Still, the Parkway discount alone is worth the membership, everything else is just a bonus.

electronblue 28-Jun-2006 11:35 AM

I have to agree, sometimes I don't even get a better price from some affiliates. Sometimes I get a steal of a price. I tend to shop around. Starting late this summer I'm going to be looking closely at affiliates and offering top advertising to those who will offer TCC members (and only TCC members) special pricing. Our ad space seems to be wanted. This will be for the affiliates that set TCC apart from other clubs.

imported_kungfugrip 28-Jun-2006 11:44 AM

I agree with building a relationship with the store for better prices in the future.. but do we all really have time to be talkin to these guys and building a relationship. When they signed on as affiliates they said paid members get better prices.. so like wtf.. but whatever

yup same here.

i have the regular customers, then the tcc paid members, and then tcc show team members.

all 3 of them get different pricing.

members get 10 percent off.
tcc st members get 10 percent off plus 15 percent off on top*
groupbuys/sales get major savings aswell.

Jay P 28-Jun-2006 11:48 AM

And i believe you can only be a registered member of one club according to your other clubs rules.

I agree that making relationships with the affiliates helps and promoting them and such.
