bearings?
What bearings?....muffler bearings?

DumbasSi 31-May-2007 06:10 PM

Water pump maybe? He should have changed it too.

imported_globalc 31-May-2007 06:47 PM

umm...he changed the water pump, he said bearings.....i'm no mechanic...

edit: i took it in because of the noise the car made,,,he took me with the hood open, and reproduced the same sound by doing something (sorry..can't be very descriptive here) and said the bearings needed to be replaced and it was independent of the timing belt..

imported_chris_v2 31-May-2007 06:57 PM

probably an idler pulley.. the bearings inside them go all the time..

doug doesnt work at leading edge anymore. i called them up 2 weeks ago and apparently doug is no longer there.

I wonder if Scott still works out of there.

I'm going to need my belt done by next month. I have a 2002 Civic Si coupe with about 158,000km on it. Where do you guys recommend to get this job done? And maybe a tuneup as well? I see the range should be about $400 for the pump and belt with labor. What about a full tune-up cost? Lastly, I want to confirm I only need timing belt and water pump? Is there anything else that would need to be changed at this time? Please list some shops and phone numbers and names if possible, thanks. BTW I'm located in the GTA.

belt and waterpump is fine. When the technician does it, tell him to check if you need a tune-up. Usually I ask questions about fuel economy if the customer requests a check over, if he says its been a bit low, i normally change up the fuel filter if it looks old (you can test it, but too much time), i usually pull a plug as well and check fluids and air filter as well.

Some technicians will call parts that aren't really needed, so make sure you go to a good shop.

If you still have the original fuel filter, wires, plugs (doubt you do) but if you do, time to change them up, as well as do a coolant flush, LOF and maybe even a tranny service if they are all needed.

hmm..this is a popular thread :P..

my car seems to be whining in first gear and a bit in second gear..that is, as I increase the RPMs' in first and a bit in second, I hear a whine sound.

i was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on any problems...i read something about changing transmission fluid will fix this, but i dont know??

There are lots of places and many home mechanics. Try the Affiliates or search for people willing to do it for you.
