cost to replace timing belt?
well..i've got to get this done and i'm wondering what the cost would be to get this done..i know the labour is the most expensive part..so if anyone could help that would be great...
EDIT:: I forgot,, i might as well get the water pump replaced as well...so the parts cost would only be added?? which would be around 200 or so? |
its around 3.5hours labour for the belt and waterpump..
parts depends. You can probably get a pump/belt from napa for $120 (for the pair) or from honda for who knows.. 200$? (im guessing here) If you want I can help you out with this service if your near Oakville.. |
400 total for the whole job is a pretty good price you'd say (or anyone else....other opiniions are always good :P)
|
come into unity auto and get hooked up :) im not sure of the exact price though. If you call in right now with the spec's to your car they'll tell you. 416-285-8956

either at my shop, or in my friends garage.
why? |
Mine was $350 parts and labour 2 year's ago, so $400 seems right. I would also try contacting the Scott or Doug from Leading Edge.
|
I need it done soon too ...

new belts take some time to get 'normal' right?? i.e, they make some noise after their initially put in?
|
um...no
New belts shouldn't make any noise. Are you referring to the timing belt specifically? If it makes a whining noise than its too tight, if it makes a flopping noise, its too loose. |

take it back and tell your mechanic to loosen the tension a little bit, too tight of a belt will cause premature wear.
|
yea...i called him and he said he's loosen it up a bit..thanks for looking out.
|
doug at leading edge did mine in december for about $350 including parts

the mechanic said the belt was fine , but the problem was the bearings,..the amount of tension on old belt was more loose,, so no noise was apparent, but in the new belt, there was a problem.
