I drive about 80k a year and I've found that even in stop and go, downtown or highway, driving stick has become an auto function for me. I like to do things like pack up some gear and drive to Tofino or some other random road trip destination. when you find yourself on a spirited drive through the windy roads of Vancouver Isl. you'll be glad your car is standard. that drive from Nanimo to Tofino was the drive of my life. Next summer, Guatamala. Except I'll be doing it in a 55 year old Guataman mans 91 Jetta, to deliver his car to his home there and flyin back. Sounds crazy but he really loves that car, and his is a great example of one, and yes it's also stick.

bought it w/214k now pushing over 500 total between 2 clusters, the first cluster's speedo went at around 400 and it was a good excuse to get a nicer one.

there was a different motor in it for about 15k but it's back to the original now.

stick.. and will always be stick unless it's a huge *** luxury sedan... I don't hit rush hour traffic enough to even consider automatic and I think the benefits such as fuel efficiency, control and lower overall cost out weighs the convenience... even in pure rush hour I don't mind it so much.. the clutches on Honda's are pretty good

That's what did it for me too. People say it's a hassle driving stick in rush hour, but it's 2nd nature to me, in fact I didn't even think about it until it was bought up here.

A lot of them also have a 'sport mode' where it kicks down quicker. they're also putting more gears in em too. Like lexus' 7 spd tranny...lol. And most others are 5 spds which makes quite a bit of difference.

lexus doesnt make a 7 spd auto, just the 8 speed in the L460, L600H, and ISF

standard...

might be different if I drove in rush hour every day (but probably not)...

standard is just better in nearly every way,

cheaper, more efficient, more power to the wheel, last longer, etc...although I'd understand the rush hour thing...but otherwise, there isn't a good reason..

All cars I've owned were stick and I am not planning on changing that anytime soon.

My car is standard and it always feels weird to me when I'm driving an automatic. The only thing I would buy automatic is a diesel pickup truck.

haha, I know what you mean. When I start my wife's car, my left foot's stomping on the floor board looking for the clutch.

I've drivin both in bumper to bumper traffic my work truck was stick And i did about 70,000 a year in it I liked it in traffic engine brakes for the win lol

Once you get used to it in traffic it's like anything else

I hate having to rest my foot on the brake because the traffic is moving slower than my car coasts in my automatic

I get stuck alot on the 401 during peak hours, so traffic slows to a crawl. While all the people with autos constantly have to hit/let go of the brake to move with traffic, all I have to do is put it in 1st at really low RPM and slowly let go of the gas to let the car coast (which is much slower than an auto's coast speed). If you leave enough space between yourself and the car in front of you, you never have to use the brake pedal (or the clutch)!

This obviously doesn't work with in-city driving, but it makes highway traffic a breeze.

I've almost broke my face through the front windshield of my mom's and my gf's cars by stomping on the brake pedal with my left foot thinking that it was the clutch pedal.
