APC shifter at Canadian Tire

I need to replace my shifter like now because it is worn. Saw the APC "Civic Shifter" at Canadian Tire without stating which year it is for. Of couse no one in the store knows when I ask. Anyone know if it will fit a 91 DX? Thanks.

To my knowledge 88-95 use the same short shifter.

That is correct Junior. Question: What do you mean your shifter is worn??? How is it worn? Do you mean the **** or the shifter lever or the shifter linkage?

First of all, don't get me started on APC. Secondly, Canadian Tire performance parts are at least 150% of the price you would find at some other shop, esp a nice mom+pop kinda shop. I kid you not...their markup is 75-100% on Keystone's price, which means 150% over the price of a local retailer. Don't do it man.... Oh, and I think a Civic shifter goes even further like 88-00 mang!

Yeah, some manufacturers do list their shifters for 88-00 Civic. Don't the shifter bushings wear out?

They do indeed wear out like every other rubber part, but certainly not for him to HAVE to replace it....also a bushing from Energy Bushings is $20...why replace the shifter??? I think he means the ****??

The linkage bushing is worn. There is a lot of side to side movement. I know APC does not have a rep. but the Canadian Tire that I was at have them for $65.00. As long as it fit and work, I think $65.00 is a good price. I believe APC have stop making those shifter because I can't find it on their 2003 catalog. What do you guys think?

You do realize that when you buy a new shifter, you get a shifter, not a shifter bushing...right? If you need a bushing, you should buy a bushing. $20 at any perf store from Energy Suspension... Red or Black....black squeaks less/none compared to red. Buy a new shifter and you have to reuse the old bushing. Just a heads up.

I think I am confusing some of you...no, I think I am confused. The bushing that is worn is the one at the end of the shifter. It connects to the shifter linkage. The other bushing that I know I should replace also is the one that goes around the round ball part (the middle) of the shifter. I think I should just dis-assembly everything first.

The one at the end of the shifter can be had from Energy Suspension. The one around the ball is actually a plastic peice that no one makes...if I remember correctly. ****, I now wish I had pictures of my install, cuz I don't quite recall. However, this part you MAY be able to get from Honda, but then again maybe not....maybe they'll try to sell you the whole shifter assembly instead. I say you take it apart and lube up what you need to, and replace what you have to...but for sure you don't need a new shifter. That's a waste of money and it could actually make your tranny go *boom*. So unless your **** has snapped in half, leave it be, and just replace the bushings. If Honda can't get you that bushing, then you should go to a junker and purchase the newest shifter assembly you can find. Odds are, it should fit.

Please don't buy anything from APC (A Piece Of Crap).

Go for a Solo or B&M. These guys are right, the prices at Crappy Tire suck. I got a price on a Solo Short Shifter and Engery Suspenison Shifting Bushings from Max Motorsports and the price was like a little over $100.

I know the bushing he is talking about and it does come with a short shifter. I just bought a solo shifter 2 weeks ago. I don't think it's classified as a bushing it's a ball bearing that comes with the short shifter kits and it definetly comes with every kit you buy brand new. The solo kit's fit 88-00 civics

MBSi, I have a B&M Edge in chrome, and I purchased all the bushings separately. Nothing came with it but a shiny polished piece of metal resembling a shifter. Purchased brand new from optauto.com in California.
