1.7 EL VS Civic Sedan
#22
About Insurance,
When I priced out a 2002 EL for insurance this year, it was about $300 - $400 CHEAPER than my 2000 Civic SiR. I am insured with Primmum which is now owned by TD Insurance. I live alone so, I am the primary driver on ALL my cars.
I don't know why the EL was more expensive than some? Maybe age plays a factor for me on the EL but not on my Civic? Well, I am over 26....

Now I read it properly...
SiR and Si are more expensive insurance than an LX or DX.
SiR and Si are consider "racing" cars... the 4dr EL is not considered a racing car.. it is considered a grocery-go-getter .. much like their sisters the Civic LX and DX.

Another possible reason the EL may have cheaper insurance rates is that it doesn't get stolen as often as Civics. Whenever you see the Top 10 lists for cars stolen in the past year, the Acura EL isn't anywhere on the list, but the Civic takes 1 or 2 spots (they often make a distinction between models/body type)
I think that that might have a huge impact on the insurance rates for the car.
