THREADJACK!
Alright, since he wants to learn the hard way and get in an accident, that's his choice, but for smart people who get winter tires, what are the popular brand!?

I've used Pirelli, Michellin X ICE, and Blizzak. I swear by blizzak.
I posted a deal for Blizzak tires, in the tires section. Saturday is the last day.
Look into it.
About all season tires... As it was explained to me, All Season tires are a comprimise(sp?) tire, okay in must things, but not good for anything. A good set of winters will cost $4-600. Your insurance deductable is usually a minimum of $500.... then a car is you're not coverd...
do the math.

That being said, I've never been let down by any yokohama tire. A lot of people seem to like goodyear too.

Look into Falken Ziex ZE-912s... Working at my work (Hyundai Dealership), these are the standard OEM replacement tires that we offer to our customers from Accents to Tiburons to Sonatas. They aren't noisy, the compound feels soft for better traction, and they have good grip on dry and wet pavement. Some of our customers also drive these in snow and all year round and they haven't had a problem with them. In fact, I'm buying a set of these in the spring when I switch back to my summer rims.

No they make all ranges, but yes I was referring to winters anyway since the thread got jacked as all seasons are not recommend for winter driving even if its only on weekends. (It snows on weekends too) :P
But can't mess or miss with Hakkapeliitta models.

^ the falkens are awesome as summer tires. Have them on my civic since may and they grip well when the weather is nice outside. They're not so good in cold weather, so far. I did buy winter tires this winter cause I just can't risk it anymore. All seasons are ok in the winter too based on a few factors: the driver, how new the tires are and where you live.
IMO, anyways.
