Everytime when my tank is almost empty, and I go fill up on gas, just when i begin to twist off the fuel cap, lots of air is being forced out which almost makes the fuel cap fly off towards me. Why is there air trapped in the tank and how to fix it?

that's normal...this happens on old cars

don't know the exact cause behind it but i've seen in it on my old cars and some friend's old cars as well

yah, on second thought, its a good idea, whenever you have a flat, just hook-up an airline to your gas cap and undo the bolts on the tire.

I hear a rush of air sometimes when I open mine but it sounds more like a sucking then a blowing. that may just be cuz I never felt air coming out and it doesn't push the cap at me.

common mcbain, if air is coming out, then you can hook up an air line with a impact gun.
