soft clutch pedal

i have a 96 honda civic si brand new clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing. Checked for all leaks on the slave, the master and the flex line. No leaks found. adjusted the clutch pedal in the car with the nut and the clutch pedal is still soft

Any ideas would be great

Thanks

I've got the same problem with my el those clutches suck it releases really high too. Spednd the extra few bucks and go oem! And those throw bearings suck too they make a lot of noise over a long period of time

How nice of dangles to bring up an old thread.
00EL I would say spend an extra buck and get a quality clutch, such as exedy/act/competition.
I had exedy and it wasn't light on the pedal, nor is my new competition stage1.
Alex was actually complaining about his that its "too stiff" lol.

I just picked up a competition stage 1 for B-series for 250$ from option.
For d-series I believe its 200$ cash.

What colour is your brake fluid in the resevoir? you could have some water or contaminants in the lines. They don't respond the same to the high pressure of the master cylinder and can cause weird clutch pedal feeling. Obviously anything other than clearish is bad. Also, did you use dot 3 fluid?

you should have 1 inch of play before the clutch grabs when you let go of the pedal and 3/4 of an inch of play when you step on the pedal to switch gears. You should not play around with the adjustment because it throws out the leverage of how much pressure you're putting in to the clutch master cylinder, therefore you might burn your clutch faster than they should. Just my 2 cents.

^ that's probably for the OEM clutch only. Cause aftermarkets are different. I don't think that my competition stage 1 has 1 inch.
