hey guys

i wanted to know what the pros and cons were for having an LSD tranny in a b16

also should i use the stock b16 LSD tranny or should i buy an aftermarket tranny?

You mean an aftermarket LSD?
I know the stock LSD tranny can be weak compared to lets say quailfe :

Kaaz, oem, quaife LSD's...pros and cons

I have an oem b16 LSD. I dont really feel a difference but I never really push my car that often to notice I guess.

No LSD here and i can still bury Preludes. *shrugs*

Preludes are boats tho. They weigh what, 3300lbs or so? lol and your CX is 2300lbs if im correct. My brother has an lsd tranny in his EF for about 8yrs now and about last year its starting to go.

id find the cheapest transmition you can get and spend about $1200 making it extremly fresh lol, new lsd new syncros, different gearing (like a long 5th). I have oem lsd but its not easy to tell i have it when driving the car

no cons that i can think of...

OEM helical LSD is good, quaife is the best. kaaz is a bit sticky and noisy in my experience.

OEM helical will be cheaper if you can find a good used one.

okay so from what im getting i should..

NOT get a stock LSD
get an cheap tranny and build it up
buy a quafie diff.

right?

rascles 22-Apr-2009 04:25 PM

or buy a good tranny, dis-asemble it, and install the lsd.(quaife)

Tyson09 22-Apr-2009 04:32 PM

quaife forsure

T-MacK 22-Apr-2009 05:40 PM

Go aftermarket.......Why would you want to put some 16 year old oem lsd in??
And there is no cons to having a LSD.
