how long has it been since that ticket?

have u had any other tickets after?

RadEp3 07-Apr-2009 02:47 PM

no man...the ticket was last month. i had a spotless record. no tickets since.

civicEJ1 07-Apr-2009 02:48 PM

check this:

i got a speeding ticket when i was 17. i was rushing in my moms car to pick her up cuzz i was late and she was bitching at me on the fone.

i didnt have insurance as yet.

so yeah, i get a ticket i was doing 83 in a 50 and he lowered it to 60 in a 50 and i never bothered fighting it; laziness i guess. but my mom knew i wasnt going to so she put me on the insurance plicy before the ticket went through the computer becuase it takes a couple days until the cops register the tickets or w.e and so basically...they pulled up a MVR (Motor Vehicle Report) on me when i was added and the ticket wasnt there yet so now i have to hope that they dont pull one up on me until im 20 ...one more year

what happend if u get 2-3 10k over tickets u wont be able to get insurance .

Simple solution to that. Don't drive 10 over, especially in residential areas and school zones.

Believe it or not, in the 905 area speeding and aggressive driving is the biggest complaint of residents. Public opinion surveys regularly place them at the top of the list of resident concerns, even above violent crime.

First off, it's not a judge, it's a Justice of the Peace.

Two, they don't get pissed at 10 over tickets issued in residential or school zones, and I've seen JPs happily convict people for as little as 5 over in school zones.

k1e1v1i1n 07-Apr-2009 04:05 PM

this wasnt in a school zone dick and i am sure everyone knew what i was talking about .

when your there make sure u tell the judge how the cops waisting everyones time with a ticket that would be imposable to tell with out speclized measuring tools.

You must mean "specialized".

And are you suggesting that the cops are issuing speeding tickets without the help of "specialized measuring tools"? Last I heard, radar and LIDAR are fairly specialized tools that are used fairly often by police. I must have been wrong thinking that all these years.

You must obviously know something that the rest of us do not. Or... you're talking out of your ass, again.

Who was it that said "Better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt"?

k1e1v1i1n 07-Apr-2009 04:32 PM

i ment the amount he was speeding wasnt easly spotted by the naked eye .

You obviously have trouble reading through the red mist. I mentioned JPs happily convicting for 10 over in "residential or school zones".

The OP's post mentioned that he got nailed just around the corner after leaving from his home, which strongly suggests he was still in a residential area and not out on the open highway.

Those signs on the side of the road with the big numbers also carry the words "Maximum" over that number. Below the big numbers will be km/h so the challenged among us don't get confused and think it really means miles, but some people still get confused. Here's the hint - "Maximum" means do not drive faster than what the big numbers say.

It does not mean what the numbers say plus 10 or 15 or 20 or whatever you think you can get away with that day on that road. If you can remember this, you won't have to come here and whine about getting a tiocket for "only" x over the limit.

Ordinarily I'd assume that most people learn this when they get their driver's license, but seeing as you in particular seem to have problem with driving concepts, I thought I'd spell it out just for you. Given that it's you, I'll fully understand if you need to get additional help from others to fully understand the concepts involved.

i will be willing to bet u it can get tossed out . i understand ur a cop and u guys stick together but u guys do make mistakes. 10k is a mistake anyone could make why waist time ticketing ppl for. dont most crimes requier intent to be called a crime , if ur going down a hill and dont notice u can pick up 10k easy . but i dont wana argue with the po- po anymore if u post again saying i am wrong then u win. i have never met a cop who could back down even if they were wrong.

not even...
if you renew they sometimes don't bother paying for a new MVR

you might be in the clear still

RadEp3 07-Apr-2009 04:55 PM

well because they're always right....

Hit an adult pedestrian at 50 km and there will be a 50% chance of fatality. Bump the speed up by 10 km to 60 and chance of fatality rises to 80% or more. Hit a child at 60 and the risk of fatality is almost 100%.

That's why they enforce more strictly in school zones and residential areas where the probability of pedestrian traffic being close to or on the road is much higher.

10 km is a mistake that almost anyone can make, and that's why the fine is so low. But the penalty still has to be there so as to encourage people to travel at or below the limit, especially in residential areas where you have pedestrians, children, bicycles, cars pulling and and out of driveways, parked cars obstructing sightlines, etc.

Speeding is an absolute liability offence. The Crown does not have to prove wilful intent or guilty state of mind to win a conviction. They only have to prove that you did in fact speed regardless of reason.

I'm not a cop so you're wrong yet again.

As much as the truth hurts, FiveO always spoils it with his knowledge and facts. Which it great, for he has helped me quite alot. The truth is much better than guessing what may happen in the end.

Have you ever been hit by a car? Do you have any kids?

Surely there is certain percentage of drivers that are great drivers and then there are your drivers that are dangerous at 40km/h. There are 40 year-olds that drive like they are kindergarden (in there own little world)...how they got their license? No idea.

Either way, it can be very dangerous in residential and school zones at almost any speed.

yeah its true...one day i was driving in MY neighbourhood and it was night time and i was driving down this one road...(btw had 3 other buddies in the car, talking and eveyrhting) and i swear to god, in a SPLIT second this kid RAN out in fornt of a parked car and i SLAMMMED on the brakes. i was going about 35 almost 40. if i was to be going "only 10 over" the kid would have probably hit my car. and the stupid parents were on the sidewalk watching their kid run into the road. everyone in my car freaked cuzz they thought i was gonna hit him but i didnt.

as they say; the truth hurts

D.T.P 07-Apr-2009 11:09 PM

well i always thought that the big white signs with numbers on them mean "suggested speed"
