Random Question

Well i recently got hit about 2 weeks ago rite, and im just getting my car fixed either this week or next week just waiting for the OLD laddies insurance company to go threw... Its kinda funny but this lady tired to tell me she wasn't paying for the accident bc it was too much money...$564 for a dint in the right rear corner... Well i told her shes gotta pay it or ill have to make a court date..But thats the story.. But i was just woundering since my cars gonna be in the shop a few days, and i won't be able to drive anywhere,is there a chance i could charge this laddy to pay for my rental car???It seems like i should be able to bc shes the one who did the accident,so if it wasn't her this all wouldn't have started...So tell me what u think i could do,and tell me if you've ever been in the same position im in....

you have to ask your insurance company as they have to pay for it first and then they go after the ladies insurance company to pay them back...also if you only have liability coverage you are gonna have to pay the extra insurance on the rental car...sometimes you gotta fight them for the car and by the time thats said and done with you dont need it anymore

Yeah, ask your insurance company to look into it. It's worth it if the company agrees. You may have to fight for her ins to pay for a rental if the damage to your's is little more than cosmetic.
if your car were undrivable, there would be a lot less hassle.

Before you go to your insurance company telling them about accidents that you've had, keep in mind that if they know about you having multiple accidents, whether they are your fault or not, your premiums will go up.

Wow. Your insurance company must love you. A friend of mine got royally screwed in a situation like that. First he had his windshield broken by something that came off a truck, then he got rear ended while stopped at a light, then he left his door open while he grabbed something from the trunk and a woman took the door clean off his car at a gas station. His premiums went way up.

ok not his fault again and I assume he got the other drivers info.

yep in the insurance companies eyes he is at least partially at fault if not fully for not closing the vehicles doors...

hope this helps..

Well it doesn't help him. But yeah he got the trucks plate number and as for the door I would have thought that since the car was parked and not on a roadway that it would fall under the same class of accident as getting your car hit in a parking lot, maybe not though. The woman was pulling into a parking spot beside him its not like he was out by the pumps or anything. Of course I wouldn't expect an insurance company to give you any leverage at all with respect to something like that.

It's optional coverage on your insurance but seeing that the old lady is admitting fault, her insurance co. will pick up the tab on the rental.

Wow, most if not all of you are wrong about the advice you are giving. First of all, Ontario is no fault insurance. This means your company pays for your damage, regardless of fault. Secondly, your company DOES NOT go after the other person's insurance company, REGARDLESS OF FAULT. This has not happened since Bob Rae was in office. Third, if you have rental coverage (OCF 20) you get a rental, if your at fault or not. If you don't have this coverage, you only get a rental if your not at fault. And parking lot accidents are not always 50-50...this is a myth. They follow the same rules as the road, the only difference is the police usually can't lay charges if an accident occurs in a parking lot.

Her company will not pay for anything, your company. We do not operate under a tort system any longer.
